Alice in the Territory

We stayed at this hotel one night on our four day tour of the red centre. This hotel was situated a bit outside of the town and that makes it a bit difficult to make spontaneous walks downtown. The reception and the staff didnt say much and it was in all ways a bit difficult to find information about the hotel and the facilities. It took a while to find out when breakfast was served and that the gym was closed. The building in itself looks more like a cheap motel than a hotel. The bathrooms of the hotelrooms are made out of some kind of plastic modules. The rooms were not that well kept and not that clean.
The only good thing we experienced here was the dinner at the restaurant which was good.

The price was right, but it is not worth it! First, it's located a $10 taxiride from the town center, which makes for a more expensive dinner. Second, the design of the hotel is weird--very long and narrow, so your room might be 100 yards from the lobby. Third, the electricity in the room is activated with your room key, and they only give you one key. Not bad, except when it is 100 outside and the electricity turns off when you leave the room. Plus, the hallway is outdoors, so that lets in heat. Fifth, The AC and minibar are very noisy--kept us up part of the night. Sixth, try turning off the minbar too stop the noise, and you are awakened two hours later by the melting ice in the minibar. Seventh, the internet computer in the lobby is the slowest computer I've worked on since the 1990"s--at least they didn't charge me for the 30 minute connect time that should have taken 5 minutes.

Go elsewhere, I did for the second night of my stay!

We stayed at the Novotel for 1 night after a red centre tour. The hotel is quite nice and the check-in staff helpful. Our room was a good size but he bathroom was small and a pre-fabricated shell. Our biggest gripe was that it was just not clean. There was old underwear in one of the cupboards, visible dust on the TV and the room had a pretty well-worn feel about it. Not really good enough regardless of how many stars it has. Because of the location, it is a cab ride into town or a meal in the restaurant which was fairly priced but average quality. Service was not great. Breakfast was poor really for the money and not up to the usual Novotel standards. Overall, not a great experience.

I stayed here overnight on a business trip, and overall had a pleasant experience. The staff in particular were friendly and helpful.

Location wise the hotel was only about a $AU6 taxi ride from the CBD and just across the road from the Convention Centre and the Casino with some nice walking trails nearby. However if I came to Alice again I would probably choose to stay somewhere closer to the mall as this would provide more eating out choices within walking distance.

Unfortunately there is no elevator to the first floor - which could be problematic if you have heavy luggage - fortunately I was travelling light. Some of the fittings and decor were a bit aged. The all in one white, plastic, aeroplane inspired bathroom was particularly disappointing - but seemed clean and tidy.

I enjoyed my stay at the Novotel Outback, the nightly rate was very good - under $AU100 per night including full buffet breakfast. The customer service was flawless.

Stayed here in April 06 before and after a camping trip to Uluru and Kings Cayon. Hotel a nice distance out of Alice - a good 20 minute walk away so best to bike or taxi it. We actually got a lift to town one night from guy on receiption - many thanks again...

Nice pool area, hotel is clean and tidy - and was good value. Didn't eat in hotel due to pickup and dropdown times but restaurant looked good.

Certainly recommended for a few days in Alice.

The hotel is good enough considering the price, with room of a good size, but bathroom looking old and not very nice. The first floor has no lift which is critical with heavy luggage and the car cannot be parked exactly near the room as in a motel. The staff was helpful and kind. The hotel is located very far from the center, almost outside the town, but the town is so small that with a car you can reach the center in 5 minutes. Internet point is available but was not working when we stayed there.

We stayed at the Novotel Outback and found the service was impeccable, with brilliant management and immaculate rooms. Perfect in every way. We ate at the restaurant which had delicious food and great service also, and every morning had the breakfast which was fresh, very tasty and also delicious.
Alice Springs is an interesting, unique place to visit, and I found the Novotel Outback a great place to stay while visiting.
