An amazing organisation that has developed from a need to educate the children in the outback. they were very friendly and informative and well worth seeing. every child feels part of the group. every child feels wanted. unlike an english school it is not easy to get left behind because they have to sign in and work - brilliant.

very informative... loved being able to watch the teacher interacting with the children via computers.. as a teacher aide I was very interested in the whole program. I would have loved to be able to stay and watch longer to see the work of the different class levels.

As we have friends whose children were educated via The School of the Air this visit was of particular interest. We were incredibly lucky to visit during one of the few weeks each year when the children from the outlying areas are brought together in Alice Springs for a weeks communal education. The facility is so vital to the families living in the remote Outback. The guided tour of the facility was superb, the film and briefing very informative and the Staff we met were so dedicated to the childrens education it made one feel rather inadequate. This is without doubt a "Must Do" for anyone visiting Alice Springs.

Interesting history of how it all started, if you are lucky you may be there when a class is in progress, otherwise a video is shown of previous lessons.

This school and visitor attraction has a very interesting history about how education is provided to children of all ages and cultures in very remote locations. We probably spend about an hour there and 90 minutes is probably sufficient. Our guide was excellent; knowledgeable and friendly and passionate about her work.
