The School of the air is the main education operation for the outback students. The amount of coordination for books and materials to be used along with online instruction is complex but effective. One teacher can have twelve students online at the same time.

There is a video of the program, then a discussion by school personnel in detail. Also on sight are examples of the art work the students perform for their long distance programs. It is a must see.

Realized the challenges of educating children scattered across the vast outback who live 100's of miles from their teachers.Their needs are being met with teachers in a central studio with connections to the students' computers and using electronic media. The welding projects completed by students were charming and showed their pride in the various stations and other places where they live.

What can I say could you trust a lot of the children in the UK to even go to the School of the Air with out bunking off..

It was very interesting to see of the wall map the area they cover from Alice more the the size of the UK you.

Having seen kids programmes in the 1950/60's about it, I was fascinated to see it in reality - was very natural and not touristy either - getting on with the job and welcoming in a very friendly and informative way.
