we enjoyed the talk on the telegraph station and how it worked years ago also where the name for the springs came about.

As a young lad we used to love sliding down the bald rock into the springs after a flood. The lawned area is a lovely spot with free gas barbies. Great for short bush walks at dusk or dawn, lots of kangaroos in the hills over the river. For tourists the old telegraph houses are an interesting way to learn about the life of the original white settlers.

I didn't get to go into station. It was closed. I had walked from in town along the river (on marked trail). River was flowing, grass was green, large Christmas celebration was going on on the banks of the Todd River. We saw little black rock wallabies. Well worth the walk. Take water and refill bottle at station

The significance is in the site - it's why Alice Springs is there in the first place - not a lot to see though and about 30 minutes is sufficient.
