“Tired!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

We stayed one night in a bungalow room and thought we were back in the 1950s!
The room was tiny and the bathroom very small too. OK it was cheap but the best thing about it was the shower, hot with pressure.
It was clean and the staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: Avoid bungalow rooms!

Dear Carol0743,

We appreciate your feedback.

Our six Budget / Bungalow rooms are quite small, we agree. They are marketed for the budget traveller / for an overnight stay. I'm sorry to hear that it didn't meet your standards and weren't up to your expectations.

In our 56 room motel we do have five other room types which include a standard (similar styling - in a larger space), and our Deluxe Queen, Deluxe King and Deluxe King Spa rooms (larger rooms, more recently renovated - with more up to date linen, fittings, and finishes some with single beds, kitchenettes, and baths).

We also have our Executive Suite with a luxiorious King sized bed, Spa, Kitchenette, 56 inch plasma television, dvd player and much more for you to enjoy or spoil yourself.

I'm pleased to hear our staff were helpful. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back one day and impress you with another room type.

Kind regards,

Stephanie - Reception / Reservations

A retro-chic 1970s-style motel but fitted to a high standard, with friendly and helpful staff and a decent and well-priced restaurant. All amenities worked well and the high-speed wi-fi was free. Also free tea, coffee and biscuits. Nice pool and terrace area available. Not as flash as some of the more recent hotels in Alice Springs but it has them all beat on location: walking distance to shopping, restaurants and bars, the Sunday market and, best of all, the Adelaide-Darwin railway station.

Room Tip: Go for the ground floor if you have lots of luggage.

Stayed two nights at the Best Western Elkira Motel in May.

The Airport Shuttle brought me to the Hotel from the Airport in less than 30 minutes. The Hotel is in the town centre. There is a supermarket on the other side of the street. The Todd Mall (the main pedestrian street), the Yeperenye Shopping Centre and other historic sights in the town are all less than 10 minutes’ walk from the Hotel. Alice Springs is a quiet place (at least during my stay). I suppose it would be quite scary to walk alone in the streets at night, particularly in the area around Gap Road and South Terrace where most of the popular motels are. It would be better to stay near the town centre, unless you have your own vehicle.

As I had reserved the room and paid the room rate on line, the checking in and out was completed in less than a minute. Very efficient indeed.

The staff at the reception were very helpful. After checking in the room I found that the kettle was out of order. The staff promptly replaced it with a new one and assured me that she would follow up the matter if the new one still wouldn’t work. On the day of checking out I asked the staff to call the Airport Shuttle to confirm the return pick up time and she immediately made the call (whereas the staff in the hotel where I stayed prior to arriving Alice Springs merely noted my similar request but without following up the matter at all).

I didn’t spend too much time in the Hotel as I have joined a whole day tour to Uluru on the next day of arrival. Upon my return shortly before midnight the reception was already closed. There is not much for me to write about the room, suffice to say that the cleanliness of the room can still be improved.

The staff make this place a stand out, accommodation above average, pool was nice size, BBQ was good and location was very good.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful and ensure your stay was pleasant. It is the little things that make a difference. The decided to have a BBQ on our second night and they prepared the BBQ for us including all the tools required and supplied the olive oil in a jug ready for us to use.
They responded to all our requests with a can do attitude and we enjoyed our stay fully.

Room Tip: I realised very quickly that the staff would respond very quickly to meet our needs and if something...

The Elkira Court Motel is a short walk away from the downtown area in Alice Springs. The swimming pool was large and looked inviting but unheated and chilly about 19 C in April. The staff were really friendly and helpful, storing our luggage and refrigerated food during the day while the room was still unavailable. The room was older with tile floor and toilet running water continuously.

Hi Sarah,

It's positive to hear that our staff lived up to our expectations, and were friendly and curteous. We do have different room grades, some more recently renovated than others, if we have the opportunity in the future - we would love the opportunity to impress you with another room. Thank you for your feedback!

Kind regards,

Stephanie Dominguez

You get what you pay for. No good judging this against 4* or 5* hotels. Not the best aircon. Limited views. But comfy bed, decent bathroom, friendly reception and clean. Stayed for 2 nights - going to Uluru and on return from - and would have no reservation about going again. Good location for the shops etc

Room Tip: Only had an upstairs one
