“A worthwile hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

The hike up Mount Gillen is really worth the effort. Once at the top sit and rest at the trig beacon and enjoy the views. You usually end up meeting people .
HOWEVER, be warned only the very hardy try this hike in summer it is not advisable.

“climb”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

It is not an easy climb, some resemblance of fitness required. Early morning ot late ofternoon but would suggest the hard part near the top be done in daylight but well worth a few hours of time.

“Climb for a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

What goes up, must come down! Remember this when you climb this mountain. The track starts just after Flynn Grave on Larapinta Drive, so you can park your car/bike there. It's an amazing walk to do and the last few metres are challenging. I wouldn't attempt this in high summer heat, but the view is definitely worth doing more than once.

“Great sunrise experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

Our daughter, living locally, planned our walk to start in the dark, to beat heat and see sunrise at the top, so we set off by the light of iPhones! It soon became light enough to see, and In the early morning cool, it was a steep but enjoyable climb to the top. The views are spectacular, and well worth the effort, but a reasonable degree of fitness is probably needed. We started back down as the heat started to rise, and were very pleased to have started out pre-dawn. We followed the same pattern for most of our walks on this trip. There is always time for a siesta!

An awesome walk if you have a few spare hours in Alice springs. I went for sunset and the views were superb.
