We stopped her for the night on the way back from Cooinda in Kakadu. We stayed in a bush view cabin. Pretty basic with no TV and nothing in the way of furniture except for the bed which was comfortable. The cabin was clean and we enjoyed a good nights sleep.

This place was excellent. The staff were great and the meals huge and exceptionally priced. We stayed in a three berth cabin and the view could not have been better. The park is very clean and the cabins are just right. Be mindful of the water though when washing hair it may turn light coloured hair a ginger colour. But this is all part of the package. The beds are comfortable and there is not a radio or tv in the room which just adds to a perfect break. Wallbies, kangaroos and birds frequent the park. There are a couple of great walks in the park but many more only a short drive away. We spent two days in Mary River and had a perfect time.

Room Tip: Bring the mosquito repellent. Embrace nature and enjoy

Lovely park, excellent service and much natural beauty. Good hosts. Excellent proximity to Darwin, Kakadu and other wilderness areas. Definitely staying again.
Corobborree billabong is definitely worth a days exploration.

We got into Darwin late so this was perfect half way stop over. Rooms were great, basic but great. Very clean, staff friendly, good pool, lots of wildlife for the kids to see early the next morning and then onto Kakadu.

We stayed in a pool bungalow for one night. It was a quiet retreat and we had a comfortable nights sleep however the standard of accommodation didn't match the price. I requested an iron and ironing board at night and was told that was unusual and the last iron handed out was stolen. No ironing board available. It was quite a hike to the laundry to do ironing but absolutely not possible to use any furniture for a make shift ironing board in the room. The laundry was quite a hike in the dark with a dim lit torch supplied. The light switch in the laundry room was dangerous and infested with ants. The water supplied to our bungalow was brown and we were advised not to wash with it either. No TV in room. All of this may be what to expect at a wilderness retreat and caravan park but not at $220 per night. Our accommodation was 2 star accommodation at 4 star price.

We booked two bush bungalows for three nights in late April. A short drive from Darwin yet far enough away to be in a fabulous setting on the river in the wilds of nature, on the way to Kakadu national park. The park is beautifully set out with a choice of bush cabins, deluxe cabins or camping. Lots of wallabies for the kids to chase, great for taking the boat and going fishing. The cabins were fine, a double and a single bed with a small fridge, and one bedside table and lamp. Unfortunately there was no other furniture in the room so we had nowhere to put bags, clothes, toys etc. There was lots of room for a cupboard or a small table and would have made travelling with kids much easier (we always have lots of stuff!). On the plus side the cabin was large enough to fit our portable cot in. Also great air-conditioning. Had a kettle and tea and coffee. It was a small walk down to the camp kitchen for preparing meals. The mosquitoes at the kitchen were ferocious. The cabin was generally very clean except for the toilet which was really dirty. The pool was great we used it a lot and the deluxe cabins have their own pool. The no TV was good too. We took lots of games and books and there was always the computer for a movie at night. Wifi is available in the main building. The restaurant food was very average and the selection very limited. My pasta was really oily and my husband's schnitzel was overcooked and really hard. The best part was Monday night's make your own pizza night. It was a great idea and delicious! The setting was very beautiful, relaxing and a great start to a visit to Kakadu. We did a day trip in our own car to Ubirr which is the most amazing place in the NT. A must visit. Take all your supplies with you as shops and restaurants are few and far between and not always open. The Bark hut is always open for a meal, and is very close by. And the Mary River Park restaurant is open for breakfast and at night too. We had breakfast included in our deal, which was ok, juice, cereal ,toast and tinned fruit. The worst part was the mosquitoes. You couldn't sit outside at night unless around a fire. We couldn't sit outside our cabins at night and had to go in and out the door very quickly as the mosquitoes would hover around the door all night waiting to sneak inside. During the day time they were fine. Take lots of repellent! I would return again as it is close to Darwin and a great relaxing weekend away.

My wife and i had the joy of staying here for 2 nights last weekend. We really couldn,t fault the place.

From the moment we arrived to our departure the staff had a constant smile, were always willing help and were a fountain of knowledge on things to see and do in the region.

The cabin we stayed in was immaculate, the bed was comfortable and the shower good and powerful. I had read in another comment that the pool side cabins were great, but I have to say, the view from our bush cabin was lovely. To wake up in the morning and see the wildlife and scrub was really beautiful.

We dined in the restaurant on both nights and the food was what we would have expected - not fine dining however good 'hearty' meals with great flavour and plenty on the plate.

I would recommend Mary River Wilderness Retreat to anyone.

Thank you, for a lovely few night away :-)

Room Tip: I would say your at a wilderness retreat - wake up and view the wilderness
