Quality of the meat was very good, decore a bit tacky but staff were friendly and food all fresh. Not a huge menu but enough for the type of place this is

“Great value.. Tasty”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Seedy and dark place with interesting props.. The food was great! ..... Better than average pub food, we had:
Angus steak
Fish of the day
& the chicken breast special @ only $7.95!
Great value and extremely tasty and we are extremely picky.
2nd time we have been here and both times not disappointed

“Cheap good steaks”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

There was a hawker on the footpath handing out pamphlets for a $14 steak meal, so I thought I would give it a go. Excellent meal, and more than excellent price. Plenty of other good value choices on the menu if steak isnt your thing. This place has a great atmosphere, and cold drinks!

“My Favourite Tacky Place in Sydney”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Before Star Bar moved on in and wrapped another name around the giant world globe set atop the building, this crafty gem was once known as Planet Hollywood. I have fond memories of visiting Planet Hollywood every time my Father would take us to Sydney. Back then the line would flow from the reservation counter at the top of the stairs all the way to the bottom and out onto George Street. As the line progressed you were offered a rare look at movie memorabilia as you climbed the stairs and were finally offered a table.
Plenty has changed in the time between the popularity of the American Diner culture and Sylvester Stallone, to when the franchise went bust, and when Star Bar eventually set up shop.
Most of the memorabilia remains. Costumes of old Hollywood action heroes and hand prints of tiny starlets from the 80's set in cement.
Now, Star Bar won't win any awards for the food they serve (self service actually - Buzzer style) but hey for a $6.95 steak, $1 for the extra accoutrement and $3 Heineken who really cares? Gone may be the long lines and Marilyn Monroe on roller skates, but I almost prefer this dark American cafe setting (set with cow print booths and rhinestone studded chairs) with little more to offer than nostalgia and schnitzel done 5 ways.

Also, the ghost of Arnold Swartzenegger's career is said to haunt the toilets.

“Food ok / drink deals & location great”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

Food was ok, we only ordered the tapas & pizza but the dip was the same for all tapas dishes & on the pizza! It had cucumber in it so if you dont like it make sure to check first as it isnt mentioned on the menu.
The drink deals are great however if your just wanting to while the day / night away with friends.
