“Real quality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We went to the Double Bay restaurant many years ago and loved it, so when we walked past this one in Newtown we had to try it. We weren't disappointed, the food was great, although the service for the main courses was a bit slow (a Sunday night with focus on take-always perhaps)
The Ginger wild barramundi was sensational, as was the Roti.

If there was a down-side, it was the chairs, mine did not match the height of the table and it was a little awkward eating, however, once it started on the barra, I soon forgot about the seat.

There a many Thai restaurants on King street – at least 15, if you are in the area and long for a bit of Thai, I would recommend Thai Rifiic.

“Just average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

Place was cozy enough, though the cushions on the seats had stains on them. The staffs were friendy and always smiling. For starters we ordered Money bags (minced meat & prawns with peas, wrapped in dimsum wrappers then deep fried). It was a bit bland and the syrup that came with it didnt improve the taste. It waould have been better with sweet chili sauce... For mains, we ordered pad thai and crispy pork. The pad thai was too sweet for me, so I dont understand why there is sugar with the chili powder and chopped nuts The powdered chili was not spicy at all and the lemon quarter was not enough to add sourness to it. It was a bit disappointing as I didnt get the typical thai taste...

“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

This is fancier than I had expected for Thai food and a little expensive but the food was good.

We shared an appetizer and also shared the crispy pork. The pork was very interesting - thin and crisp with wicked chilis that are to be avoided but make the dish good.

“Good Thai restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

My wife and I were visiting from the U.S., and heard a mention that Thai Riffic was a pretty good Thai place, so we tried it. For openers, the worst thing about it is that its sign is too small, so it is difficult to find (it's on the corner of King and Elizabeth, next to Thai La Ong 2). But once we got inside, it was a pleasant experience. The bustle of King Street is left behind (which may be good or bad, depending on whether you like people-watching or conversation) and the staff was friendly (and very good with a family with small children who were near us). We had an order of chicken satay (six to an order) -- the skewers were a little blander than I'm used to and the peanut sauce a little spicier, but the combination was good. We also shared a crispy pork main, which was also very good. So we can only base our review on one visit and two dishes, but we would definitely go back if we're in the area again.

“The best beef massaman curry I have ever tasted!...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2012

This reastaurant really was Thai Riffic. We were on holiday from Scotland staying with a friend in Sydney. He took us here on our first night and it was an amazing welcome to Oz!
The food was delicious. We ordered a few starters and two mains between three of us which more than fed us. The beef massaman curry was absolutely delicious!
The atmosphere in the restaraunt was great, so laid back and welcoming with nice decor too. (If I had to add a negative comment I would have to say that the toilets are pretty gross. It's not attached to the restaurant which means you leave the restaurant, walk past the bins and around the back of the building and the toilet is a shack out the back!)
The staff were excellent. We ate at a couple of Asian style restarants throughout our stay in Sydney and I really must say... this was the best!
