We felt like a Greek meal with friends, and selected the Athenian as the location suited us and on the web it sounded like a good menu at reasonable prices.
The restaurant is in a grand former bank building close to Martin Place in the centre of Sydney.
It is large, with extensive seating in a formal style, and on a quiet Monday evening, slightly intimidating. Having said that, Mondays are usually quiet for restaurants, and we were pleased it was open.
We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the waiter friendly and helpful. We couldn't decide what to have, and were thinking we might share dishes, so he offered to come up with some choices for us and we were happy to go with the flow. The moussaka, beef stifado and roast lamb were all great selections, delicious indeed, especially the beef and the lamb.
I squeezed in some baklava with gelato as well, which rounded off the meal beautifully.
I would go again, the some of the dishes were exceptional, and the prices very reasonable.
