During a quick weekend trip to Sydney,I decided to treat myself to a lunch at this restaurant. Despite it being a little out of the way, the taxi drivers seem to know the location. Upstairs and overlooking the Anzac bridge it was a welcome relief to have good airconditioning on a hot Sydney Sunday. A selection of local and regional oysters for a starter was wonderful and followed up with kingfish sashimi salad and butterfish main. A great place to have seafood in Sydney without being seduced by the tourist trade.

This was our third meal at The Boathouse, and sadly it wasn't third time lucky. Our first two experiences were excellent, but this time there was something just 'off centre'. We understand that it's primarily a seafood restaurant but it would've been nice if a few more non-seafood menu selections were available for diners. We also noted a lack of prawn dishes which was quite disappointing. Our wine waiter seemed to enjoy sloshing the wine into the glasses not caring where the drops fell, and our waitress determinedly filled up glasses with bottled water, even when she was asked not to. This was obviously to upsell and seemed a bit tacky. The lunch ended up being quite expensive and a little overrated. It's a shame because our third time will be our last.

We had a very lovely dinner here,a restaurant mostly for seafood lovers, especially oyster lovers. The service was top notch, the views wonderful. Servings looked small, but were very filling. The flavours were very punchy, at times almost too much, but the cooking was to perfection. We booked for 6.30 and had to be out by 8.30, but that was fine. Pricing was at the high end, $41-$48 for most meals, $135 for lobster, $27 for entrees.

This is a wonderful location overlooking the harbour on Blackwattle Bay - the perfect place for a long lunch. It is built in a converted boathouse over the water with an attractive, modern interior (and lots of large windows for the gorgeous view). The food is excellent as is the wine list. I've dined here a few times for both lunch and dinner and each time we have been extremely impressed. If you love oysters then don't miss an oyster tasting plate - superb. Every dish is great, but I'll make mention of the snapper pie - enough for two (so share) and the best one I've tasted!

The prices aren't cheap but for a bit of a splurge it's well worth it!

We are two Americans visiting Sydney on holiday. We had dinner here last night and what we had was very good but the prices are, at least by USA standards, very high. We each had an appetiser and between us 3 glasses of one of the least expensive wines and the bill with tip was US$136. A 1.5 to 2.0 pound lobster would have been AUD$135 and most of the mains were AUD$ 40+.

Also be alert that the restaurant is in a somewhat remote location and it was difficult to get a cab to pick us up after dinner.

Still the food that we did have was inventive and fresh.
