We (four adults and two children) decided at around 7.30 one night to eat at Mamak. As they don't take bookings there was a queue and as we were a larger group we waited for around 20 minutes for a table. (Quite a few couples had much a shorter wait.) While waiting it was entertaining watching the chefs stretching dough to make rotis and then filling them with the various stuffings.
Once we were seated it was quick to order as we had made our decisions while waiting, and within minutes we had food on the table. The food was excellent and varied enough to enable us to satisfy the two boys, who don't enjoy spicy food, and the adults who like it hot. It was similar to a Malaysian hawkers market and the satays, rotis and curries authentic. We are looking forward to trying the Melbourne spin-off.
