“Worst Hightea experience & biggest let down”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

I had puchased an Scoopon voucher for hightea for two normally priced at $45pp. As part of the T&C you were required to book ahead as they were booked out. So I booked almost two months in advance to take my sister out for high tea for her birthday. The day finally came on Sunday and I was sure that it would be everythying I hoped it would be; Amazing views, wonderful food, great service!
How wrong was I !!
The hostess who greeted us was rude and short, would walk away as you tired speaking to her, made us wait 10-15 minutes to be seated.... AT THE BACK! So the only view we were getting was is of the back of everyone's heads! It took another 20 minutes for a waitress to take our tea order. There was a long white hair on our table with dirty lipsick ridden cups. When we asked for new cups that matched, our waitress told us that they have run out of matching cups and that we would have to wait to get some clean ones. 45 mins after being seated we still did not receive our hightea even though people who were seated 30 minuets after us were served straight away. Everytime we complained to wait staff we were told they were understaffed, over booked, they had run out of tiers and food- they pulled out every excuse under the sun. It wasnt until an hour had passed, hungry and frustrated we approached another waiter who had a tier of food and asked him to stop going to the front and of the room and ignoring the countless tables at the back who had been waiting for an hour. It wasnt until then had the rude hostess approached us to apologise and offer complimentary sparking wine (we dont drink). It wasnt until another 10-15mins later did our high tea arrive with food missing from the origional menu as the chef had run out and sub standard replacement items. Some cold yellow jellow/egg thing and green apple nasty lookin jello.
All-in-all what should have been a pleasent relaxing Sunday hightea turned into a horrible let down. There were several other tables seated in front and next to us who had waited similar times- Alot of angry customers. You would think having to book online months in advance these people could accuratly cater for each seating and have enough resourses.

I will never reccommend The American Club after the horrible experience I received over the weekend. Save your self the time and dont bother going here, here are much nicer places who will give you the attention and respect you deserve.

“High Tea experience!”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

I bought coupon and I went there with my sister and mum. Lovely place, nice view (overlooking botanical garden and water). It was nice and sunny day, love the food, waitstaffs are very nice and polite, always accomodate our requests. I would love to come back again.

“Need to be a member?”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

Do you need to be a member of The American Club to dine here - it appears not by the comments below? Level 14 is professionally managed by a 3rd party catering firm for the Club so is it open to non members at specific times or anytime and how do you book?

“High Tea at Level Fourteen”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

My daughter bought me a Scoopon for High Tea for Mothers Day at Level 14 & we had a lovely afternoon. I requested (via email) the possibility of a table with a view of the harbour & received a reply saying they would try to accomodate my request. On arrival we were ushered to a table for 2 with waterviews....lovely. I have had High Tea at other venues but Level 14 way surpassed the others. The staff were excellent, lovely smiles & very accomodating. Well done!
