Was here during the Vivid Festival and had a great dining experience. The venue well placed to catch all the harbour activity. The food was fantastic, tasty and fresh and plenty to choose from. The waiter, Sareth, took time to explain the menu and let us know the heat of the chilli dishes and brought a lovely little dish full of crunchy fresh cucumber in case it was needed. Wish I lived closer so that I could explore the menu some more. The seafood lemongrass skewers, beef rendang and chicken rendang where all amazing!

Also any special night out we always choose this place.
The food is fresh, very tasty.
Great location, and if you can get a seat near the window, great view.

My wife and I had lunch at The Malaya on Sat 01/06/19. We have been eating here for over 20 years (pre King St Wharf) and they never disappoint. The food if sensational and the service is highly attentive yet friendly. If you are after quality Asian food with the option of some spice head for the Malaya. Best Asian cuisine in Sydney!!!! Our staple order for 20+ years and our recommendations to you is; Chilli Chicken Wings, Prawns Kapitan, Szechuan Eggplant. If there’s four in your group add; Beef Rendang and Kwai Du. This is one of those restaurants that the locals know about and the tourists don’t hear about.

My daughter and I enjoyed a delish evening out at The Malaya rest . Having grown up in Asia we had medium expectations of Malay/Malaysian food in Sydney.
Seated right at the glass windows overlooking the Harbour where the mini cruise boats dock it was a really special evening as Sydney’s Vivid Light Show was on. Truly spectacular.
We opted for the Vegetarian Banquet Menu - our waiter was helpful and the series of dishes arrived very promptly. I believe there were about 7 courses (small portions) and although I worried it might not be enuf for the two of us... it was perfect! A broad range of flavors and tastes from samosas, sayor otak, Szechuan eggplant to Singapore noodles. Cost AUD$61.00 per person.
Overall a tasty evening made spectacular by the Fireworks display on the Harbour.
On the downside it was extremely noisy in there. My understanding is that is packed most nights. Reservations essential.
A lovely evening out.

Hi Sophiebelle04,

Thank you for your feedback.

We are delighted to hear you and your daughter has such a wonderful evening with us recently. It is a wonderful time of year to come with the vivid lights, located on the promenade outside the restaurant.

You are right in saying the restaurant is very lively when full.

Thanks again
