Definitely NOT for the serious Oeneophile!
In fact, not for anybody who wants a superb restaurant experience.
The menu is a dabble in many disparate directions, without any real commitment.
This also serves to summarise the wine list. A dabble of disparate wines that are largely unknown (with good reason) without any commitment.
Wines are shockingly overpriced, being double to triple any expectation, and well beyond any semblance of a reasonable table price. Many of the poorer wines are at least four times what ought to be charged for wines of such lesser quality.
It was 45 minutes before the first bottle was opened. If you want a skilled sommelier who will play it straight with you, you are in the wrong place. The sommelier, with a straight face, made a recommendation that was against my better judgement. Either the sommelier is hopelessly out of her depth, or was deliberately attempting to hoodwink a customer. At least she had the good sense to not charge for ONE of the dud bottles she foisted upon us.
Nice atmosphere, with a very nice bar at the back.
Great place if you wander in the back door and want an intimate and classy bar drink. One of the best intimate & cosy back street bar experiences I've had. However be sure wine & dine elsewhere.
