Description: Tetsuya's serves a ten course degustation menu. The degustation is unique, based on the Japanese philosophy of using natural seasonal flavours, enhanced by classic French technique and utilising the freshest possible ingredients. Tetsuya designed his own on-site "test kitchen" within the restaurant to enable him to create the constantly evolving and inspiring dishes on which he has built his esteemed international reputation. Tetsuya's offers one of Sydney's most comprehensive wine lists and our sommeliers will, upon request, match the dishes with wine available by the glass.

After doing a cooking masterclass with Tetsuya himself, we then went to his restaurant for his 10 course degustation meal. Whilst the dishes are very small, you will definatley feel full by about course 7 or 8. His signature dish of salmon is mouth watering. The first dish of Cold Pea Soup with Chocolate sounds funny but tatses amazing surprisingly. The waiting list to get a table is like 3 - 6 months but well worth the wait. Stay at the Medina Grand in Kent St. to make the most of this restaurant because you get a different wine with every course so driving anywhere would prob be a no no. Tetsuya's = Excellence!

“The best restaurant I've been to in Australia”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

With a last minute trip to Sydney booked we knew it was impossible to get a table at Tetsuya's on a Friday or Saturday night - and there was a scoff down the phone when I asked. But then I nearly fell off my chair when they confirmed a booking for Saturday lunch! So come Saturday our long awaited desires were fulfilled. The moment we stepped in to the domain of Tetsuya's we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere is a bit museum-like and the service is very attentive - perhaps a bit too so for my liking but still excellent. The lunch menu is the same as the dinner menu - 10 course degustation for $210. And I think the whole Tetsuya's experience justifies the price. For another $90 we could've matched wines with each course but we chose to do our own thing. And it's a good wine list - ie there's a good price range so you don't have to blow your booze budget. The dishes were very good - not Michelin starred but the best that I've had in Australia. What a great way to spend an afternoon! Would I eat here again? If budget wasn't an issue - yes.

This is one great dining experience. 10 course degustation with an incredible wine list to match. Save your pennies and treat yourself to a night out on a special occasion.

This was truly a dining experience and we were buoyed with the thought of our wonderful time for days. The food was sensational expecially Tetsuyas signature dish of the slow cooked ocean trout. Each dish of the degustation was a new experience and the wines were perfectly matched to the dishes. The service as smart and very helpful. The cost is expensive but we felt we had value for money as this was a special treat and it was made special by the whole experience. Well done
