I do not agree with some recent reviews. Everyone agrees that the view is unmatched and you don’t have do many places offering such a view perhaps the Jules Verne at the 2nd floor of the Eiffel tower. Welcome and service absolutely outstanding. Personalized, informative, professional smiling. The cuisine ? A blend of Asian Australian and French. Very subtle, first class dressage, and above all a pleasure for the palate. I have no regrets with the bill. Two comments any way, for a Frenchman a meal without a choice of home made breads is unique and booking for one a table ends you in the very far corner of the dining room... which happens from time to time

I took our extended family of 9 and book the private room facing the opera house . It coincided with Australia Day’s celebration .. what a treat ! The food , new menu , were excellent .. and the new dessert , white coral , must be one of the best dessert I have ever taken . Ten course $275.. though on the expensive side is well worth it .. highly recommended !!

For us, going to Quay was a once in a blue moon experience. Went for lunch on a beautiful mid January day, so the harbour looked stunning. The welcome was warm, the service impeccable and not at all "pushy", and the decor suited the place beautifully. If you appreciate craftsmanship, the tables will impress. And the food reflects culinary craftsmanship too. First reading of the menu (in advance of going) made us a little concerned, wondering what the eel and the fish roe etc might be like. We needn't have worried - each mouthful was a taste sensation, flavours complementing each other rather than dominating. We had the 6 course menu and while the portions weren't huge, we felt satisfactorily full. Cocktails were refreshing, too. Peter Gilmore, the head chef, came out for a chat, and was very friendly and personable. Presentation of each course was unhurried and staff explained what each dish entailed. All in all, a marvellous experience - not cheap, but it's a wonderful indulgence once in a while, so for that, and the view, well worth it.

where you get to use a pair of tweezers for one the dishes.

I dined at Quay as it was always on my list to try. We had the 6 course degustation menu. Whilst the offerings were nice and looked good it didnt really wow me as I expected. I have had more interesting offerings from other restaurants such as Aria and Gordon Ramsays restaurant in London. It has the appearance of a bistro, nothing on the tables just basic wooden tables. This makes the place look un inviting and more like a pub. I know it was done deliberately this way but for high end dinning I expect a little more. Highlight dish was the Coral desert. Main of Duck was a small couple of slices that was uninspiring and nothing more than I could get anywhere else cheaper and more of. Wed didnt get the toasted stodgy muffin thing in the middle of the course. Some of the other dishes were too similar with creamy offerings with sprinkle of protein. Not a restaurant I would go back to im afraid but at this level I expect a little more than what is on offer
