“Spectacular Views and Great Desserts”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Overlooking the Opera house and the Harbour bridge is always a great start to the evening. We only had three courses which include Crab Congee to start which was very good. A main dish which was a fish in an asian broth however the highlight was the dessert. Wow! I had the Jersey Cream which was out of this world. You would go a long way to beat the desserts here. The service was also very friendly and attentive. Overall lovely experience.

“Pricey, but excellent food, and good service”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Went for a wedding anniversary. I have been a couple of times before for business, so chose it from previous experience. It was as good food wise as before, and the service had improved. Overall what you would expect for the top rated restaurant in Australia.

“Divine - and perfect for New Years Eve!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

We splurged and sat outside on the terrace, right under the Harbour Bridge for an unforgettable evening of 8 courses, paired with wine and fireworks on top of us and just over the Opera House. It was exquisite. First, the rose champagne, followed by amuses bouches that went wonderfully with the dry Riesling. Each course was a taste sensation - from lobster sashimi to the beet salad to the mushroom consommé to an incredible steak and a dessert that was the most different and refreshing group of flavors. The staff were incredibly attentive and timed everything perfectly. They were friendly and helpful and the sommelier shared some great insight into the wines. The price tag was a mini mortgage, but it was an unforgettable experience overall.

“Just oh so Divine”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Where do you start with a stunning restaurant like "Quay". How about the view, you can see down Sydney Harbour, or you can look directly at the Sydney Harbour Bridge. If either of these do not suit you can always look directly across to the Sydney Opera House.

The views really do make for great anticipated dining. We were both not disappointed. We had the degustation menu (8 course), the food just got better and better as each course passed. The highlight for us both was the pigs cheek, followed by free range chicken, then wagyu beef. The ultimate desert came along "Snow Egg" which was just divine simply divine. Our meal took some 4 hours to complete, the food, the wine, the service and the view all combining together to make a stunningly beautiful night for myself and my partner. The service by the house staff was just wonderful, brisk and very knowledgeable (the staff really know their stuff and are proud to display it in a wonderful friendly way).

We have eaten all over the world at some of the best restaurants money can buy. Quay is right amongst the top restaurants our world has and its definitely in our books as the Number 1 Restaurant in Australia. It has it all, the food, the wine, the service and the fantastic views. If you get the opportunity to dine at Quay then do so, you will not in anyway regret your decision.

Special thanks to Eleanor for her wonderful service.

The only issue we had were why on earth people would be banging away on their mobile phones (surely the art of discussion has not become that bad). Taking photos of ones meal is also rather crass (that should be reserved for places like Sizzler not a stunning restaurant like Quay).

“Nice but over priced”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

I have been to Quay twice and after a delightful A La Carte meal (which included the snow egg), the degustation was on the disappointing side. We had the degustation with matching wines and it left all at our table a little unimpressed. The savoury dishes were bland, too balanced, and I wasn't a fan of the matching wines. The desserts (including the snow egg) were magnificent, certainly the highlight of the night. For such a top rate restaurant, we were surprised by the staff. The interupted our conversation constantly, and the BO off one of the waiters was so offputting. Overall nice, but not value for money. We have eaten better for far less.
