“Great to revisit after all these years”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2013

Used to dine at this little restaurant many years ago and decided to revisit as in the area.
Unpretentious, good service and a very nice menu. The food was very good and each plate felt as though it was straight from the kitchen to you.
Really like this restaurant - should be more of them in Sydney!

“Vote 1 Greens above the line”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

Our third night in Potts Point this trip and second visit his year and we were keen to try different restaurants to the ones we had eaten at before. Such a choice all on your doorstep.

So this time we chose Macleay Street Bistro and had a delightful meal, the service is outstanding too. Food was beautifully cooked and presented, wine list was good. They seem to be in the middle of re-decorating and one wall was bare and was for writing on with texta, if you felt like leaving a message. I did. (Vote 1 Greens above the line - well it was just after the election and it was fresh in my memory)

I wouldn't hesitate to eat at this bistro again, wish it was on MY doorstep!

“Consistently good and often great”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

This is a Potts Point stalwart, and as long term locals we dine here throughout the year, not as regularly as perhaps we should as this is a very very good bistro, but living in this area we are spoilt for choice. My wife and I went last night after a 30+ degree C day and sat at an outside table we had requested when we booked. It was a beautiful evening, made better with great food, lovely wines, and a very friendly, knowledgeable young waiter.
We both had entrees from the daily specials, my wife the zucchini flowers, and me the Merimbula Sydney Rock Oysters, both were fantastic. For mains my wife again drew from the specials and had a snapper dish, which she proclaimed one of the best fish dishes she had, and I had a favourite, Steak Tartare, again excellent. We shared a soft centred meringue dessert which was also very good.
This is definitely a favourite place to go and each time we are there after months and months from a previous visit we always wonder why we don't go more frequently.
Highly recommended.

“Very good food & service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

We went to this restaurant after finding the one we went to Potts Point for was closed (according to their website they should have been open). This one proved to be very good. I had the vegetarian rissotto and my partner the beef special and they were both very tasty. The prices were about average for a decent restaurant in Australia. The toilet, which was accessed by going through the kitchen, was very clean, as was the kitchen. It was good and reassuring to be able to see "behind the scenes".

All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was very good.
