I love visiting Japanese sushi restaurants and would rate Sushi Rio amongst the best. The range was so different to the regular offerings, whats more you could also order a la carte. The rate of $3 per serve is remarkable compared to the rates we see in Western Australia. I particularly liked the idea of writing down your name and size of group when you first arrive which helps the staff to cater for your seating much quicker. There is always a welcoming "greeting" from the staff each time a guest walked through the entrance. It was cheery, well presented, very affordable with ample food and friendly first class service. Wish we had a Sushi Rio in Perth

Was due to a meet a friend at the corner of Sussex and Liverpool and stumbled upon Sushi Rio. Wow, what a gem! It was 4.30pm on a Sunday so easy to get a seat, and it always feels good when I'm the only Westerner - you just know you're on a safe bet if this is where the locals eat. From the staff shout of Welcome! to the delicious $3 food on the belt, it's an enjoyable experience all-round. The staff were the friendliest I've seen in a long time. I had sashimi, several plates from the belt and a seared scallop (which was truly delicious) plus hot green tea which was promptly refilled - all for $20 excluding tip. That's hard to beat, anywhere in Sydney. The staff were friendly, smiling and took the time to chat for a while as I was eating alone. I will definitely be back here, every time I'm in Chinatown. First class.

We go here whenever we have a taste for Sushi and are never disappointed. All standard sushi plates are $3. Always fresh, and usually a good variety on the train, otherwise you can order of the menu for exactly what you want. It can be very busy at peak times, but well worth the wait.

The do not have a liquor license - we sometimes bring beer along and have never been charged a corkage fee. Normally costs around $20 per person.

We fed 5 for $130. And went to town. Dishes are fresh. You may have to queue at the front for 20 minutes to get a table - but it's worth the wait. No reservations taken. The BBQ Mayo smoked salmon is to die for.

Over the past 10 days visited this place twice. First time at Sushi train/restaurant and would go again - food great, atmosphere great, staff great, customers happy. This is one very busy little place - get in by 7.00pm or be prepared to add your own name to the customer waiting list (located just inside the door). Food prepared fresh before you eyes, equally as good as it looked if not better. You could sit away from train if you wanted to but would highly recommend you experience sitting at the train, eat with your eyes, experience sushi at this place. Prices of food from train generally $3.00, some at $6.50+ - makes for a very affordable healthy eat out experience. Radison Hotel located on Liverpool Street, near Sussex Street is a great place to stay and only 20-25 metres away (see reviews on this 'tripadvisor' website).
