There were some 500 patrons and only 5 wait staff who were running around trying to serve everyone - it was an embarassing sight. The servings were so small I had to put my glasses on to see where the food was in the big plate - eg. 1 mushroom (yes 1 mushroom) for one course; 1 prawn for the next serve etc - there is also misrepresentation...the Menu says Qld Prawns (in the plural) but only 1 prawn was served.
Two of the waiters had a go with our guests and I had to intervene to stop it.

Turkish cuisine rivisited with pleasant flavours that drive you thru a nice selection of starters.

Limited but good selection of maincourse where the ottoman cuisine shows its best.

Nice atmosphere, being there with friends and our kids, and good service.

Price is what you expect to pay for a styleish restaurant, but definetly not a rip-off.

Ottoman Cuisine is one of those little-known places that you discover and just love. Tucked away from the main part of the city and away from the tourist traps, this restaurant is great for its amazing food, lovely view of the Harbour Bridge and atmosphere which is both open and relaxed but also quiet and cosy and intimate.
The food is sensational. I've eaten here three times now, first for a work lunch, then with just my husband for a birthday, and then in one of the private dining rooms with about 25 people for another birthday. Each time service has been spot on, the wait staff are very knowledgable and nothing is a trouble - from recommending dishes to try to altering the degustation menu to suit a food allergy.
On that - the degustation menu with mathcing wine is fantastic and excellent value - it changes slightly with the season so you get something a bit different each time.
The time we were in the private dining room the restaurant was full with a wedding and general public coming in to sit on the outdoor terrace, and still, being as busy as they were, nothing was too much of a trouble for them and the service was always with a smile.
If you go to the restaurant don't forget to look up at the enchanting lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

We booked Ottoman based on reviews on the internet and were not disappointed.
Situated on Pier 2 the restaurant has views of Sydney Harbour Bridge but no real water views. This was more than compensated for by the terrific food, friendly service and heritage locale.
After deciing on the Bosphorus banquet menu as the most appropriate for a party of eight we all enjoyed the selections of entrees and mains that came.
Each dish showed a new modern take on Middle Eastern fare. Traditional dips, vegetable and meat dishes interpreted to suit the cosmopolitan locale. Each dish was tasty and well prepared with the banquet as a whole offering good value and great food.
A wide list of really good wines mostly with mid range pricing enabled all to eat drink and enjoy each others company. Full marks to Ottoman for being somewhere you can talk to your friends in very pleasant atmosphere.
Special mention for the good vegetarian selection - this did not pose an issue to the professional wait staff.
Ottoman is for a special occassion where you dont feel ripped off.

Lovely location on Pier 2. The food was very tasty and quite reasonably priced. We struck a bad Waiter. Lied to us that we could only get their Fixed Price set meal when we noticed other people ordering from the menu. Under staffed. Waiters were rushing about. In a hurry to take your order, and rushing off even before you could finish asking them for water. At times, our drinks ran out and we were left waiting a while before we could re-order.

They need a change in attitude - but the food is still great
