I love going to the Opera Bar, it never disappoints, whether for a first date, drinks with the girls, a lazy weekend lunch, its always amazing. The best thing is the view, you're outside watching the boats roll in and out, the air is fresh and there is the ususal city buzz.

The food is really yummy and the drinks are great, albiet expensive, which is the only thing about Opera Bar that hurts, the cost of your outing. In summer, during the day if you can;t get a spot in the shade it can be pretty uncomfortable. Whats great is that they provide a very steady supply of free sunscreen, they really do care about their patrons.

I've always had fun here and its a great place to kick off your night with a few sundowners before heading to the clubs in Kings Cross or Darling Harbour. If you have friends or family visitng Sydney, there is no better place to show off our beautiful city.

I was really disappointed with the buffet breakfast. I live locally and am a big fan of the Hilton buffet breakfast. I had read good reviews on the breakfast offered at Cafe Opera, so a friend and I decided to give it a go.
We went at 9am on a Sunday, without a booking. There were a few people lined up for a table, but we were seated within minutes. Had we arrived any later, we may have missed out as the restaurant was full before too long.
We were shown to our table and offered tea or coffee right-away - but it took ages for the requested filtered coffee and pot of tea to actually arrive. Our table had not been wiped down properly, despite having been reset.
There are a lot of tables crammed into this restaurant so it was a bit of an obstacle course weaving around tables and chairs trying to get to the buffet. Staff were light-on and not quick to remove used plates and push in chairs. Trying to get a refill of tea /coffee took quite a while.
The staff were so busy hence not being so attentive.
The food itself was very good - plenty of variety and nicely displayed. A very impressive array of fruit and pastries particularly.
The egg chef works solo and was flat out so it was a bit of a wait in an awkward line waiting to order. The positioning of the egg station is odd in that you have to line up across the hot offerings therefore blocking other patrons wanting to use that section of the buffet.
My friend was very disappointed no pancakes were offered - which we have come to expect as a given at a 5 star hotel breakfast buffet.
I hailed a waitress to order an espresso coffee at one point and she was very distracted whilst taking my order and clearing our table at the same time. She repeated back my order and got it totally wrong! Fortunately the correct coffee arrived.
Overall, an average experience and I won't bother going back again. The Hilton wins hands-down as the best 5 star hotel buffet breakfast in Sydney.

Great for a night out in the city. Good for tourists and locals. Nice way to soak up the atmosphere of Sydney's beautiful harbour. Can be pricey at the Opera Bar but the occasional night out here or even just a one off is worth it.

The Sydney Opera bar has great atmosphere both day and night. During a hot sunny day, we enjoyed the patio lunch and draft beers under the shade of an umbrella and with the refreshment of the cool ocean breeze coming off the harbour. At night, after watching Don Quixote, we were treated to live music and fireworks under the stars. All this while surrounded by breathtaking views, the bright lights of the big city, the Sydney Harbour bridge, the never ending ballet of sail ships, tour and tugboats and large cruise ships negotiating their way around the harbour, and of course the architectural wonder and testament to human creativity and inspired perseverance that is the Opera House
