Our daughter arranged for my husband and I to have dinner at Cafe Opera as a treat for us. We had the exquisite buffet which was just superb. There was an abundance of seafood including fresh prawns and oysters, carvery, a range of salads, a variety of bread rolls and desserts to die for. We were very well looked after and supplied with clean cutlery - having plates whisked away between courses and generally treated like royalty. The decor is delightful and romantic. It was a memorable evening and visitors to Sydney should definitely give Cafe Opera a go. If buffets are not your scene, they also serve a la carte meals. It was a Thursday evening and the restaurant was quite full and everyone seemed to be very happy with the meals and the service.

Opera Bar is located beneath the Opera House on the fantastic Sydney Harbour. The bar is well located to watch the ferries coming in and out of Circular Quay and is the perfect spot to view the Harbour Bridge.

We didn't have any food but had a lovely bottle of bubbles sitting at the edge of the harbour.

We were there in the evening so the atmosphere and lights were incredible.

Last night in sydney. Wanted to find a place for after dinner drinks. Best place to go? The iconic Opera house of course. Sipping wine while taking in the breathtaking harbour view - Pure enjoyment. There is the indoor area as well. decor seemed pretty classy. Drinks are not as pricy as I thought. $14 for my glass of wine. Less than $30 to have a seat in a nice place for two hours. Pretty worth it in my opinion.

Great at atmosphere to enjoy the view of the Harbour Bridge and the boats on the harbour. The live music was a bonus.

I would say having a drink/appetizer at the Opera Bar, which is literally at the foot of the Opera House, is a must-do/see because of its location and view. The view can't be beat! However, if this bar were anywhere else, I would not recommend it. Be prepared for high prices for drinks and food and slow service. But again, I would still consider it a must do at least once during your visit.
