I booked the High Tea to celebrate with a friend and whilst this was a lovely afternoon, I felt it could have been a little better. The bar room is old world and has atmosphere but there is just something missing. The staff were a little confused as to when they were bringing what and seemed to be thrown by the fact we didn't want a glass of sparkling wine - obviously unusual. When our high tea arrived the selection was lovely and we did eventually get the coffee and tea sorted after answering the same questions on our selection a few times. All up I can't pinpoint what was missing just to say that maybe even though they advertise they have High Tea, it is not the real focus and is a bit of an add on. If you want any type of view and there are just two of you, request a window, larger groups are sat in the middle of the room.

Had a function high tea in the dining room. Enough food but most if it just average. Room itself was good for the occasion. Getting tea/coffee was not as easy at it should be for a high tea. And the cost was not good value.

Parking expensive.

Had a wonderful afternoon with friends at the Sir Stamford, very conveniently located. Booked High Tea with Sparkling wine/tea or coffee. It was served in The Bar, so sadly, no view from here. Very pleasant room however. As with most High Tea experiences, it was pricey and whilst the three tier platter was lovely to look at, would have liked something more substantial. The finger sandwiches were nothing special, the cakes/pastries were delicate and interesting, but most were either too rich or too bland. The scones with jam and clotted cream were excellent, would have happily had another. Also, it was an unseasonally warm day and the room was a little stuffy and far too warm. We received just one coffee or tea, at least no more was offered. All in all a very lovely and very 'civilised' way to spend an afternoon, but it was overpriced, the food under impressive and with so many other options available I would look elsewhere next time.

Dear Valued High Tea Conoisseurs

We appreciate your feedback and agree with your comments about the unseasonally warm day and the rather warm conditions in our lovely 1987 Bar. It's a pity none of our staff opened one of our lovely old sash windows to let the cool breeze in from the Botanical Gardens. High Teas as a concept for celebrating have certainly grown in the last five years and Sir Stamford at Circular Quay does specialise in elegant packages for Brides to Be or Ladies from 5 to 55 celebrating birthdays or other special events - including graduations. These take place in our small Governors Room (10), Lachlan Room (25). Prnce Albert (40) and Elizabeth (100)

Of course your table should have been offered second or more tea or coffee orders - as many guest do linger over the weekend high teas, and we do offer our apologies.

Our pastry chef is very proud of our scones which are made to order - very rare in Sydney these days, despite the proliferation of High Tea venues. We will take on boards your other suggestions as our selections are changed seasonally, so that our regulars are treated to new delights.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feeback.
Kind regards

We enjoyed dinner last Friday night. The service was excellent. Couldn't fault the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Food was delicious and the chocolate implosion lived up to its reputation.

Dear Valued Diners

On behalf of my team of wait staff and all the members of the kitchen brigade thank you for your lovely review. The chocolate implosion is an institution and even though there are many fancy chocolate restaurants around the city these days, out little creation still delights. The Dining Room is open for dinner Tuesday to Saturdays and does do very early sittings for those pre-opera house shows.

Many thanks

Dear Bar Visitor

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review. Being tucked away in our Heritage listed 1897 Health Department buidling - means we are very dependant on word of mouth reviews such as yours. We do look like a private club, but we are very much open to locals, visitors and guests - even those from our neighbouring hotels.

We're open from 11.00am 363 days a year and we serve food all through the day and evening. Our little plates are the latest addition to our broad but simple menu - as we do of course still offer the traditional perenial favourites "The Steak Sandwich".

Look forward to your return,
Brien Tanti
