When we were invited by friends to join them for Sunday lunch here our heart sank at the range of reviews on Trip Advisor. Reading the online menu the food sounded interesting but pretentious and extremely pricy for what was mainly cheap pasta dishes. What concerned us was the number of reviews of disappointing food and poor service, which did not reflect the cost charged.

We had a lovely table overlooking the waterfront and service was attentive and good until the main courses had been completed. The plain grilled filleted barramundi was superb, whilst the crab pasta was congealed too al dente and was cold.

We then waited for forty five minutes before dessert menus appeared, despite a gradual exit of other diners, so the staff were not being stretched at this time. Having finally been given these, no one came to ascertain what we wished to order and it took two requests for the bill to be prepared.

We conclude that management does not read the Trip Advisor reviews and is either unaware or indifferent to the service standard being offered, being happy that the restaurant is currently an "in" place to eat, has an attractive location and is therefore content to rest on its laurels.

We would not wish to eat there again.

We stayed at the fabulous Ovolo Hotel and thought that we'd just stay close to 'home' for a couple of nights for our meals. So we chose Otto for one of those nights. Look, it's a great location with city views over the water and Sydney at night is spectacular. Chicken cacciatore was one of the meals and beef cheeks the other. Beef cheeks lovely and tender, no problem there but the iconic Italian dish in an Italian restaurant needed some work. Quite bland with nothing to really recommend it in its current form. In fact, writing this review now, I was hard pressed to remember what I'd had to eat, it was so ordinary. The tea and coffee came out with the dessert which was an interesting take on the order of things. When we asked for the coffee to come after the whole meal, it had obviously spent its time waiting on a shelf as it was lukewarm and underwhelming. There was nothing that was appallingly awful about this place but there was nothing that would make a return visit likely I'd have to say. The service was fine no outrageous complaints but no bouquets either.

Friendly staff, good location and yummy food. Starters were ok but main course and desserts were very good. Extensive wine list made this visit worthwhile. Would recommend to anyone

Had a word function here with 20 colleagues, in one of the private function rooms upstairs. Food menu was good and the very tasty. Wine was also good and generally the service was timely and very friendly. There were a couple of hiccups - waiters served entrees in the middle of award speeches which interrupted proceedings, and it took almost 30mins for wine to be refilled - but overall a good venue to bring colleagues or for a work function. Have eaten here for leisure (party of 2 and 4) and had a smoother experience.

We visited on a Saturday night whilst in Sydney. Great location down on the wharf, the place was jumping. The service was attentive and informative. We had a Moreton bay bug pasta and the rib eye with a side of purée potato and a caprese salad which was itself amazing. Extensive wine list and we had a great Barolo. Loved this place and would go back.
