“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

We were recommended to the Marigold, but were disappointed. The staff were unfriendly and bordering rude. We were left for ages without water or taking an order, even though staff were clearing tables around us. The mixed platter starter lacked flavour, was oily and over fried. The main dishes were better, but not much.

“Like watching a ballet.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

It's a real education to sit back and watch the Yum Cha wait staff at the Marigold. Professional with a capital P. And the food, of course, is wonderful!

“Tasty Food, Rude Waiter”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

We were tired, our little girl was not going to venture out of her food comfort zone in her tired state. The only thing to excite her was the chopsticks - when the waiter rudely snatched them out of her hand. I had to pass her mine. She might be little, but she learning to use them. His attitude tainted the evening a bit.

Peking Duck was nice but the seafood dishes that passed looked better.

“Excellent Chinese”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

If you tell anyone in Sydney you've been to Marigold they say "oh I haven't been there in years" and immediately say they will have to go back. Packed on a Sunday evening, mainly with Chinese people. Food was delicious. Service was a bit abrupt, but did the job. Will definitely be back. Only negative is that it was a bit noisy but we still managed to hear each other perfectly fine.

“My fav place in Sydney for yum cha/ dim sum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

They call dim sum 'yum cha' in Sydney (which means 'with tea', I'm told) and Marigold is the best there is. However I would suggest that you take a Chinese speaker with you as sometimes it pays to know what you are being given (they are big on tripe dishes and also chickens feet). The food is brought around the restaurant on heated trolleys and then offered to you- which is great as you can just sit and eat and eat and eat! Maybe not the best thing for your waist line ;) I would recommend the cha sui buns, the Chinese greens, and the coconut jelly squares for desert!
