Neighborhood: The Rocks
Description: Housed in a stone, heritage-listed building, in the heart of The Rocks, Munich Brauhaus is the place to be if you're looking for a range of thirst quenching (unpronounceable) Bavarian craft beers. This historic venue has had a makeover, morphing into a refreshed, more modern version of its former self - meaning the haus party just got bigger and better! While there is a strong emphasis on beer, the authentic Bavarian style menu also sets tongues wagging. The Munich-style restaurant and bar will transport you straight to Germany with their traditional dishes and female waiters dressed in traditional Dirndl dresses (settle down boys, we know you're excited!). Famed for its stellar selection of hand-crafted burgers and haus-made hot dogs, this venue has all the key ingredients to draw a crowd - and has no trouble doing so - night, after night, after night. Prost!

“The best schnitzel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

Seriously was the nicest schnitzel I have ever eaten and the sauerkraut was really tasty. There was no way any of us could finish this meal. I worked my way through the beer list and they had a great mid size glass that helped me with my goal, again I couldn't try all of the beers so another visit is in order.

“The Germans sure know how to have fun ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2013 via mobile

This place has been on my list for quite some time now. Friends and family that have been here always seem to have such a great time. Lowenbrau is also quite a tourist attraction at the Rocks, known for their beer and their famous 'Knusprige Schweinshax’n' (Pork Knuckle).

I visited Lowenbrau with a friend before a concert on a nice December night. We were fortunate enough to quickly get a table, probably because it was a Tuesday.

I had seen the Pork Knuckle go past carried by one of the waitstaff, and I got intimidated. That dish is huge! Although I really wanted to try it, I opted for something lighter yet filling. After observing the platter sizes, I decided to order the 'Löwenbräu’s Caesar Salad', which had a good portion of their popular chicken schnitzel. I also got a side of fries with my dish and a good glass of red.

My friend got their 'Original Löwenschnitzel' (pork schnitzel) with their original beer to wash it down with.

Both dishes were great and really made you feel like you were in a pub somewhere in Germany. The atmosphere inside is quite am rustic and has an authentic feel to it. There's a bar further inside the restaurant and has the old-style wooden tables that you would normally see in movies.

I would definitely come back for another night out with friends, possibly try and hang out with some German tourists and see what they say about the place as well.

“Overpriced decemt boring german food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2013 via mobile

The beer was very good. The chicken schnitzel was fatty - KFC has more flavor. Salmon special was a simple pan fried pice of salmon but sides of beans and sliced potatoes were perfectly cooked. I'd give their food 4 stars if it weren't overpriced. $83 for two unimaginative entrees and 2 beers. There was a German 4 piece band playing on the street for a bit which fit the brew house atmosphere. Service was fine.

“Best location for Bavarian beer/food and jumping activities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013

Lowenbrau Keller, at The Rocks, in Sydney Australia. A really large restaurant -- nice outdoors seating and a large, nice cellar inside. They have live entertainment nightly at dinner time and also at lunch time during the weekends. The servers are in Bavarian uniforms. It gets quite busy -- I sat at 11 a.m. for a beer but stayed until 1 p.m. and watched the place get really crowded. The outside area is like a busy bazaar so there are lots of interesting activities going on.
