Restaurant details
Good for: Bar scene, Large groups
Dining options: Dinner, Late Night, Lunch, Breakfast, Reservations
Neighborhood: The Rocks
Description: Housed in a stone, heritage-listed building, in the heart of The Rocks, Munich Brauhaus is the place to be if you're looking for a range of thirst quenching (unpronounceable) Bavarian craft beers. This historic venue has had a makeover, morphing into a refreshed, more modern version of its former self - meaning the haus party just got bigger and better! While there is a strong emphasis on beer, the authentic Bavarian style menu also sets tongues wagging. The Munich-style restaurant and bar will transport you straight to Germany with their traditional dishes and female waiters dressed in traditional Dirndl dresses (settle down boys, we know you're excited!). Famed for its stellar selection of hand-crafted burgers and haus-made hot dogs, this venue has all the key ingredients to draw a crowd - and has no trouble doing so - night, after night, after night. Prost!

We American friends visiting so, after a wonderful walk around The Rocks, we took them to the Lowenbrau so that they could experience something different. Great night, lots of noise but terrific fun and we absolutely loved the food.

“Great fun venue”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

Excellent but extremely expensive beer and very well made German food. Big portions of lovely comforting meaty goodness.
The service is great and everyone working there is actually German. Which is nice.

The major negative here is the riduculous number of self-important security guards wandering around trying desperately to accuse you of being intoxicated so they can evict you from the premises. Seriously, they should find trouble makers and deal with them, rather than harrassing everyone and anyone who has had more than a couple of beers. It can really ruin your night out. I don't know if these people are employed by the restaurant, but if they are, then they should really reign them in a little.

Felt like Oktoberfest all night. Delicious Pork Belly and fantastic service, you must drink a beer! The entertainment was great. Overall a great evening out with friends.

“Enjoyed our breakfast”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

We had breakfast here as an alternative to eating in our hotel. A bit of a wait - and it wasnt that busy - but plenty to watch. Good food and coffee. Would like to return for evening meal sometime

Lowenbrau pork knuckles are the best. Combine one with a litre of wheat beer and you can't ask for anything else!
