Description: Longrain Sydney is located at 85 Commonwealth St in Surry Hills. Inspired by the communal eating philosophy of the Asian table, our menu is made up of dishes created for sharing. Longrain's menu has evolved from Martin Boetz's original Longrain vision, bringing South East Asian influences to carefully sourced ingredients with fresh, zingy flavours. His vibrant menu is carefully balanced with wines and cocktails chosen by restaurateur Sam Christie. Our long, shared tables encourage the spirit of eating together, so you can try each dish as part of a full tasting experience, just as it was intended (limited reservations available). Book one of our individual tables for parties between 6 - 10 people; or Private Dining Room for 12-18 guests.

“Never fails to impress”

Great cocktails and good wine list. The food is all about sharing and is excellent. Never fails to disappoint - although not so easy to get in some times.

“Never Fails!!! This is what I call great food!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2012

Visit this place almost once a month.

The snapper never fails and the sauce is very good.

The pork knuckle also very slick and it just melt in your mouth.

If they have beef special with black bean sauce, Go for it!

The waiter is always nice and friendly.

A little bit pricey but you definitely got what you came for, which is great food:)

Better eat in with the party of four so you can share and it will be value for money.

One thing that the management can improve is the floor, it will be nice if the management can make the floor more thick so you can not feel the foot step at your sit when people walking behind you.

“Now they taake bookings and you can sit with your friends there is no excuse not to go”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

The problem with Longrain used to be you couldnt book and you had to sit at communal tables whether you liked the commune or not.Now you can book. You can sit at a table with only your friends and the food is still amongst the best. Service is a bit slow when they are busy but now you have no excuse. If you havent been go now

“Flavour, Fumbling and Financial Ruin!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

This is a very good restaurant, with slick service, really good food, and a bill to match. We had the banquet and made the serious mistake of adding an additional course as they sounded yummy - but don't - way too much food!
I am not a big fan of oysters as I find them pretty bland, but these were very very good. The asian salad did not sound very exciting, but the flavour made up for it, and the duck (the extra course we should not have had) was so good I had a second portion, which meant I had to stop there!
My fellow diners loved the desert, a combination of sticky rice, something resembling custard, and a sorbet / ice cream concoction, but it was not for me.
The wine selection was ruinously expensive, and frankly not brilliant as they were out of our first choice, but the lighting was so atmospheric that the list was almost impossible to read.
A really good experience with excellent food, but please do something about the lighting so those of us over 40 can read the menu, and have a couple more wines below $60 a bottle.

“Excellent. As expected.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

This restaurant lived up to expectation with great food, wine and service. We had a banquet including oysters and their signature betel leaf trout. Devine. Surprising well priced considering the high standard. A must go venue if your in Sydney on business for a few days.
