“OK Indian Food in Quay”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Restaurant is very dated and needs a major facelift and we were very doubtful when we entered. Service was slow, but restaurant was busy and tables were seated at same time. Was suprised with the food as it was good (not very good), but I would return next time in Sydney.

“Odd place”
Reviewed November 1, 2013 via mobile

Food was fine, different than indian food in Denver, Aurora, Detroit, Windsor, London (Ontario), Beijing, Lisbon, etc. but variation to be expected. Service by presumably the owner efficient, atmosphere below average even for a basic indian restaurant. At least prices reflected the rather spartan surroundings compared to the crazy expensive restaurant prices in Sydney. 8pm on Friday night and we were the only ones in the restaurant bodes poorly for a business however.

Reviewed October 26, 2013

Was there in Sydney for a couple of weeks in Oct '13 and wondered where will I get indian food and Indian Quay came to the rescue.
Fanstastic veg food cooked made my stay in sydney more comnfortable.

Every time i ordered the food - my satisfaction level was high and had no complaints at all. Restaurant owners very warm people and it was very nice interesting with them too.

Please I would recommend every one to go to this restaurant and I can assure you wont be disappointed with the food quality :)

“Good food, fantastic value”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and true to the word we enjoyed every moment of our time. The restaurant is simple in the decor but food is delicious that we nearly licked the bowl. The aloo tikki starters were crispy so was the main of Chicken Tikka Masala licksome delicious. The Dal Makhani was melt in the mouth. The service was awesome and loud and great. We never expected to have such a small bill after eating a three course. We would not only recommend this to our friends but we would be going back in a big group as great value for money..forget the simplicity it is just magnetic to go back for one of the best Indian food I have had..

“Aggressive owner, had to protect friends we were with from him! Avoid like the plague.”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

It is difficult to know where to start with this restaurant.
A group of about 30 of us arrived at India Quay restaurant, upon entry we were greeted with an "Oh S***!" from the owner. Choosing to ignore this extremely rude introduction we politely asked if they could accommodate this many people and were told it wasn't a problem.
The waiter service was performed by the owner and it was so abrupt and plain rude that it was almost comical. Your attention was gained by an aggressive clicking of fingers in your face! The orders were placed and well after an hour there was still no sign of anybody's food. We inquired as to the whereabouts of our meals and again experienced unparalleled rudeness but no clear answer.
The owner and his equally nasty wife then appeared and said that he was only willing to cook 1 meal for each table (of which there were 2). We calmly explained that we weren't happy about this, we had been waiting for over 1 hour 30 minutes and it was getting late to eat anywhere else. Also, some of us had allergies or strong dislikes of the particular food on offer.
Upon hearing this information the couple exploded in an uncontrollable torrent of rage an abuse, complimented with many variations of "F*** YOU" and equally offensive expletives. The male owner moved forward and repeatedly pointed millimetres away from some of the ladies faces. His abuse and anger was so strong that a number of us had to hold him back and protect members of our party.
The evening concluded with him announcing he was calling the police and demanded we settle the bill for the drinks we had consumed (which of course we would do). The owners were so enraged and seemingly violent that 1 member of the group paid for us all instantly just so we could leave before somebody was attacked.
Atrocious isn't the word! We were perfectly sober, polite and patient. Nobody should be spoken to in the way that we were. They should not be allowed to run a business.
Unfortunately I cannot review the food, but it if was 10 times better than the service, it would still probably have killed us all.
