I booked this hotel because of it's location - which was perfect for me - literally 5 minutes from Sydney Central, and even closer to a major bus exchange. There are many cafes and restaurants within 5 minute's walk- and some of those are excellent. I guess you'd have to call it a boutique hotel, with only 14 or so rooms. There is no way this is a 4.5 star hotel, but it could be heading towards 4 with a little TLC. My room would have been great ten or so years ago when the up-market TV was new. There were little things, like a small hole in the ceiling where the fire sensor had been moved, the light fittings were damaged, the in-room safe didn't work (flat battery?) and the linen was a bit tired. But the bathroom was very nice, as was the overall look, decor and features of the room. Given that it is in an older building in the middle of town, it was very quiet inside, and they did have complimentary Internet access in the rooms. It is a secure building, and you need your key card to get in the front door, use the elevators, and access your room - all good! The staff were pleasant and helpful, but on a couple of occasions I couldn't find anyone on the front desk. (To be fair they were nearby and I was only delayed for a few minutes). So all in all, it is a nice hotel, and with a little maintenance could be a very nice 3.5 star hotel. I stayed on a week when rates were down, so got a good deal - and I'd consider staying there again if the rates were low, or they fixed it up a little.

I was a little concerned after reading some of the other reviews on this hotel. However, a 5 minute walk from central, a very easy and quick check in(even though we had arrived a few hours early for our booking-they allowed us to check in). The room was fantastic. Minimal, clean, and a great deal of room to move. Bathroom was funky and clean. Room was full of light and although not on a top floor, had a very interesting view of the surrounding roof tops.
My partner and I loved the style of the room, and for the price we paid, I was over the moon by what we received.
We will most certainly stay here again, and will be recommending this hotel to friends and family.
As well, we requested a late check out on our final night-anticipating that we would be staying out quite late. There was no fuss made and they happily gave us a two hour late check out!
If you are looking for something modern and central, and if you do not require stupid amounts of bells and whistles, I would certainly give you the thumbs up to stay here.
It was a very, very enjoyable place to stay.

I was booked into this hotel by a friend and, after I read the reviews on Tripadvisor, I honestly thought that I'd be walking into some modern day version of Fawlty Towers! Yes the room was basic, there was no carpet on the floors, the television looked like it had been home made, and the chandelier looked like it had been hung up without being taken out of its packing tube! But the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom quite spacious. And the location is awesome - just a few steps away from Central Station, Paddy's Markets and a short walk to the centre of town. I can understand why this hotel doesn't get glowing reviews from everyone, but if you want a room in this location for this price then you have to be prepared to make a few compromises.

Room Tip: If the Central Station location isn't important to you, keep an eye out on specials from The Menzies on the other side of the city. Sometimes they offer specials for a similar room rate that includes food/drink vouchers.

When to this hotel in February 2012 for a week stay. Booked on wotif, only to find horrible reviews after we paid so was kind of worried, but everything turned out pretty good!

Check-in was fast and easy, room was pleasant. The only quirk I have is that the bed if not a real Queen sided bed. It was just two super singles pushed together and covered with a Queen fitted sheets. Bathroom was nice, but there is no tub.

No other facilities available. Food wise there are a lot of nicer choices around, so don't bother eating downstairs. Overall, good if you are just going back to the room to sleep at night, and if you don't want to share bathrooms in a hostel.

Booked a night on Wotif . Self rated as 4.5 stars- 3 more appropriate. Booked by partner - without checking Trip Advisor !
Looks like it was renovated 12 years ago - funky wood paneled minimalist lobby is spoiled by clumsily hung painting of prior building - and beat up Eames Wood Lounge Chairs - the architect would hang his head in shame. Room was sloghty run down - however wood paneling around ceiling - bathroom v cool. Tge painted concrete floor is too stark - carpet would be a big inprovement . Bathroom groovy & well designed - but long black hairs in & around towel area a turn off - staff helpful & pleasant - but v causally dressed ? Not sure why. Needs a coat if paint and some spac filler to fix damaged walls. Suggest current owners didn't build it , bought it cheap & have no idea of what it could be.
