I woke up to the chatter of loriket parrots, air fresh and humid from the overnight rain, natural light streaming through windows into our high ceilinged terrace room. Its a simple go-as-you-please, look-after-youself kind of affair. Fantatsically priced and right the midst of where you want to be for good food/drinks in surry hills and access to transport to get elsewhere. The host, David, made all booking aspects very easy.

Read the comments - if you like industrial carpet, the constant hum of air conditioners, elevators and fluorescent lights - this isn't for you.

Brickfield Hill is a delight. All previously reviews apply so if you care about tea making and uneven floors go elsewhere. If you adore heritage well done, ambience, detail and delight... Don't look further and book here. As for insects, they were here before us and the diffuser was effective. I wandered out for breakfast to the Orto Trading company in Waterloo St. Lots of options for eating and shopping and just wandering.

I booked Brickfield Hill for 5 nights based on price and location. It's just a 10 minute walk to the Central Station where the Circle line has you at Circular Quay in minutes. I was a little surprised that breakfast didn't come as part of the fee but that worked for me because it forced me to get up and get out and find some beautiful places to explore instead. Favourite had to be Dunbar House in Watsons Bay where English breakfast tea is served in Wedgwood China with the most lovely view while you're at it.
I stayed in the en suite room. The bed was super comfortable. The room was serviced every day and had everything I needed. Yes there were some cockroaches outside as a previous reviewer has mentioned but as David replied, he can't do much about the Sydney insect life. There weren't any inside so no worries. David was very helpful and more than happy to give advice and suggestions about places to see and things to do. I'd happily stay there again and hope I can get back to Sydney some day and do just that

Room Tip: There's only room with its own bathroom and that's on the first floor so not too many stairs...

This was a last minute 'blind' booking that I picked based on location and sheer availability! It is situated on a quiet street in a Victorian style house over three floors. I was in the 'green' room on the top floor at the rear of the property. It was a small room however it boasted a balcony which overlooked the neighbouring properties, however I was given the choice of the front 'lavender' room which was very spacious. All the rooms have a four-poster style bed which makes it feel a little more special.
The bed was very comfortable and the room and shared bathroom was immaculate.
David was a great host and available for any questions you may have.
In terms of location from central train station it is a walk up a moderately steep rise but only about ten minutes and that was pulling up a suitcase and to walk to the Rocks it takes about 30-40 minutes but gives you the opportunity to view the city shops. Hyde park is also about 5-10 minutes walk away and is a lovely way to get to the city centre rather than walking alongside the main roads in.
Next time I would definitely stay here and recommend to friends and family.

We just stayed here, (myself, partner, and 1yr old) for 2nights. David, the host, was very welcoming and willing to help with any questions we had about our visit to Sydney.

We stayed in the Lavender room which is on the very top (3rd) floor. Yes, alot of stairs! However, David willingly helped us carry our heavy luggage up the stairs. The lavender room was very spacious and used a shared bathroom. It had a heater, which came in very handy, a tv, wardrobe, desk, and a king size bed as well as a day bed.

The location was perfect for us. It was a minutes walk to Crown street which had heaps of choices for cafes and restaurant as well as a playground for our son. Alot of bus stops to the city were nearby, as well as Central Station. One day we even walked down to Circular Quay which only took us about 30mins.

Would absolutely stay here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lavender room. Top floor. Probably do not choose this room if you don't want to...

This is a really lovely and reasonably priced B & B! Very clean, beautifully comfortable bed, charming little balcony and fantastic location. A few stairs too many to the top ( 3rd) floor for anyone who is mobility challenged but if you're not in that category I would thoroughly recommend this lovely accommodation. David, the host, was entirely welcoming and helpful.

First impression quaint and just what we wanted, Once we were in our room we realised there were no facilities to make a cup of tea or or coffee- we have stayed in B & B,s all over the world and never had this experience, Who is going to venture out at 11pm to try and find a cup of tea? Also the bedside lamp and room lamp do not work Bed is very comfortable the room is large and very nicely set out, the TV is small and only gave out black & white image Bathroom is basic but adequate and is shared with other guests unless you get the room with ensuite. Overall, Brick field Hill is somewhere I will stay again but next time I will bring my own kettle, mugs a and tea.
