“Modern Luxury in prime location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2010

Booked this hotel after a disappointing trip to Cairns, so instead of sticking it out we returned to Sydney early. Booked Fraser Suites as we wanted a nice hotel with a separate living room/bedroom and like modern/contemporary decor.

Location is fantastic on Kent Street -- steps from Darling Harbor, a few blocks from prime shopping, and very close to great restaurants. Check in was mostly painless, though one clerk assisting us was probably very new as he was pretty confused by our booking. But nice touch to have a seating area to work with the check-in staff. Went up to our room on the 24th floor (actually the 14th floor, as floors go from lobby to 10 immediately) and was extremely pleased to see the room layout. Roomy, spacious, fantastic view, full kitchenette, full laundry, great bed, floor to ceiling windows.... Everything we were hoping for.

Location has been great -- though we had some light rain the first few days we just adjusted our leisure plans for shopping and gambling. Shopping on Pitt/King streets was not a far walk, and shops were great! Star City Casino is walkable and we came back with more money than we left with, so that was a great plus. Restaurants in the Darling Harbor/Chinatown area were great too -- breakfast buffet in-house was the one down spot, cold and overpriced with not the greatest selections and flavors. But still loved our experience at the Fraser Suites, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I stayed at this hotel/apartment for 1 week in November. After reading the reviews we were both looking forward to both our stay at the Fraser Suites and our first visist to Sydney. Whilst the accommodation was very modern and attractive, it was a little too minimalist for out taste.
I was also disappointed with the lack of laundry facilities in the studio apartments and after travelling for 3 weeks could have used a washing machine, rather than pay a fortune for laundry bills. At least a communal laundry could be provided for those using studios. We were also disturbed until the early hours of the morning ie. 3 -4 am by a party of girls in the room next door.

Reception staff were not particularly helpful and were most unhelpful when we queried our account, actually charged nearly £200 more than we were quoted when we booked. No reason given, no refund either. We will be going back to Sydney but will not stay at the Fraser Suites.

Expensive, but upmarket and at centre of town

Rooms are large, bedroom aslso decent size, and so two effective rooms. Kitchenette is modern and there is washer dryer in room as well as dishwaser etc. A proper apartment, very nice, very clean and very modern.
Ideally place for Chinatown, Darling Harbour and the main CBD.

If you want town centre and decent apartment - this is ideal

Once you got beyond the freezing lobby, our one bedroom suite was comfortable and well appointed with decent city views though no balcony. However 1) the pool is really not as nice as it looks: dark and narrow and gloomy - could be anywhere in the world. 2) the business centre and internet were not working for our whole 6 nights stay. this was really annoying as had to go to a grotty basement in a McDonalds every day. 3) the kitchenette was not well stocked with pots and pans.
Overall I was not very satisfied and preferred the Meriton in Pitt st where I stayed last time which was cheaper.

I stayed here in early February 2010. I was a bit reluctant to book here as the reviews on Tripadvisor were quite contradictory. However, this is really a wonderful apartment hotel. It is very centrally located, only a 7 minutes’ walk from Darling Harbour and the convention centre.

The rooms are beautifully designed in a modern style. We had a one-bedroom premier corner apartment on the 31st floor. The apartment has everything, even a dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, dryer. At first notice you don’t see that them as it is all hidden behind doors, which gives the apartment a stylish and really comfortable look. Not to forget the big desk with internet connection (has to be paid extra at AUS $ 25.00 per 24 hours) which is built in between two separating walls, which is fantastic if you want to work without disturbing the sleep of your partner.

I always try to find an apartment when I have to stay longer than a couple of days. And this was the best I have ever had. I can definitively recommend to stay at Fraser Suites.

Just spent 5 nights in a one bedroom apartment. I agree with all the previous favourable reviews. Staff were were very helpful, the room was large with plenty of room for our little one to run around. The rooms were well appointed with 2 flat screen TV's, kitchenette, and a king sized bed. The was no extra charge for a use of a cot which we have found to be quite rare with Australian hotels. We used the recommended baby sitting service which was fine though a little expensive. There is a large indoor pool with 3 glass windows in the bottom of the pool so you can see down into the shopping centre below. There was also a spa, large gym and a sauna. As previously mentioned the location is great with an easy walk to Chinatown, Darling Harbour , Paddy's market, the monorail and the convention centre. It is a bit of a hike to the harbour bridge and the opera house about $10 in a taxi though you could walk it. The hotel breakfast was a little expensive though there are convienence stores and cafes near by. My only minor complain is the lifts are a bit slow and temperamental.
