One bad experience after another.

- couldn't find booking when we checked in - took an hour to check this - never let us know - we had to chase them- seems to be common theme

- rooms tired, worn, dirty, small, noisy

- slowest lifts I've ever experienced in my life

- three interruptions at our door within the first hour of our arriving

- locked out of our room 'due to fire alarm resetting locks'

- room keys needed to be reissued repeatedly (they weren't carried next to my phone as staff suggested)

Room Tip: My suggestion for choosing a good room is go to another hotel

I stayed here over night recently for business purposes as an alternative to the hotel I normally stay at. It was recommended to my by a colleague so i was expecting quite a bit more than I got.

Firstly, I was under the impression that I would be a booking an apartment style accomodation given my booking stated a 1 bedroom studio but was disappointed to find a room that was about half the size of most hotel rooms.

Secondly, the bed was one of the most uncomfortable i have ever encountered (way too soft - no back support) and the pillows were ridiculously high and hard. The curtains although thick and heavy were not surrounded by pelmets so light streamed in the sides and tops. The noise level from the street was incredible, in particular considering I was on the 31st floor. All of this made for a very poor night's sleep.

Thirdly, the bathroom, although clean and modern had very poor lighting. It was as if everything was on dimmer. Not conducive to shaving etc in the mirror.

Lastly, although the hotel offers in room breakfast, disappointingly it is only limited to non cooked food.

On the positive, the hotel is clean, modern and in a nice location. Breakfast in the restaurant was quaint although having arrived at 7:45am with only 3 other people in the restaurant I was surprised to see half of the cooked food empty. Likewise nobody explained to me that i could have things cooked to order as i then saw other people receiving.

In am led to believe that the larger rooms and apartments are more comfortable and would be willing to give them another go but all in all, a disappointing experience.

Spent 2 weeks at Fraser Suites in room 4109 on the top floor, it faces out onto an apartment block but this was not a problem for us.
Darling Harbour a 5 minute walk, Circular Quay about m20, can catch bus to Bondi a few streets away, Sydney is very busy and everywhere in the centre is very crowded, so it wuss nice to have a haven to return to.
Staff friendly, we had 1 bedroom delux which had seating area, flat screen tv, DVD, small kitchen area which consisted of 4 ring hob, combi microwave oven, fridge, kettle, draw dishwasher, we had them remove all of the mini bar items from the fridge and used it to store our own wine and groceries (Coles supermarket an woolworths walking distance).
Bedroom also had flat screen tv, bath robes, bathroom walk in shower.
Previous entry mentioned shortage of coffee etc, a few times they were not filled up, but we rang housekeeping and they would send more up, not a problem.
Room cleaning a bit hit and miss, sometimes they forgot to leave enough towels or dishwasher powder etc, but usually rectified with a quick phone call.
Few items stopped working during our visit, kettle and iron, but again replaced straight away.
Beds large and very comfortable.
Nice large indoor pool, jaccussi and sauna, most days you could have it to yourself, same with the gym, 4 treadmills with tvs, 2 cross trainers, 3 bikes and a rower, good selection of fixed weight machines and free weights, punchbag (but only 1 glove) Swiss exercise balls.
Downside Internet access 12aus$ per hour or 30$ for the day, rip off as all of the small town motels and b&b's we stayed in on our trip offered it free, we took advantage of an offer at woolworths and bought a Vodaphone broadband 3G dongle valid for 30 days for $25 which covered all of our needs, making telephone calls from the hotel also expensive, buy a cheap sim when you arrive at a 7 eleven for $2 (lebara network top up on line, only $5 a minute to ring uk.

Beautiful modern apartment in heart of city - Has a kitchenette, laundry fac, comfy bed, wonderfully clean - extra bedding had to be asked for- however house keeper was friendly helpful and caring, making sure we were ok!

No points to girl on front reception - When we checked in she couldn't find our booking -took a while - When we asked for a west facing room with a view - They ignored or did not under stand our request - announced the room was north facing - Despite exhorbant price - there was only a view of aircon & tall buildings - You can also hear traffic noise from here!

However it's close to Queen Vic Building 4 shopping, underground rail, monorail, coffee close by - Also Coles - Strange number of 3 satchels of coffee, sugar and small container of milk ! We ran out, had to buy coffee, tea, sugar !

Toilet inconveniently located inside bathroom! No bubbly on arrival ! 2 LCD tv's , aircon , Internet $12 a day -No problems in the stormy weather!

We stayed for a week in a one bedroom premier suite on the 30th floor, very nice, clean, and comfortable. Staff very friendly and location (for us) was spot on around all the major shops and darling harbour. Walked to the rocks a couple of times and took about 20 minutes.

Room Tip: We had a corner room - very quiet and tucked away

I loved the Fraser suites, firstly the price if booked in advance is so cheap for a property of this quality. The rooms are lovely and have a real mood about them, sexy and sophisticated and are massive (we stayed in a large one bedroom) Lovely lounge area and separate seating area, good dining space and little kitchen with everything you need. Also has a huge desk and work area where i did actually have to work during my 4 day stay. Again no free wifi ! Australia needs to sort this out... Everywhere in the UK and most places in europe has free WIFI in the rooms now, bit of a joke you have to pay for it ! I just ended up using my phone and tethering.

Bedroom is massive, loads of storage another desk area and another big tv with all foxtellchannels (all foxtel sport channels 1-3) which i enjoyed as i could catch up with the EPL. The bathroom was lovely, no bath, but a big double shower and lovely big mirrors and a good washer dryer to use. Great products which were replaced daily. Also the use of a robe during your stay, which is handy for the pool.

The pool and gym were great. Had a place to sit by the pool unlike the Meriton apartments down the road, also had towels to use by the pool and a good jacuzzi. The gym was huge with everything you could need, probably best hotel gym i have been in. It had a punch bag, loads of free weights, 5-6 resistance machines plus all the usual cardio stuff.

This hotel is lovely and the reception team are great and very helpful ! i requested a high room before my visit and i was given the 29th floor facing out towards darling harbour (sunset every night) it was lovely. They did tell me when i asked for a high room i could pay 30 dollars for my whole stay and i would be granted one. I ignored this and chanced my luck, it paid off ! Unless if I paid the 30 bucks i would have been given floor 40 - 49 with views across the city i dont think it would have been worth it.

So why have i not given it 5 stars ? Basically there are a few issues with the state of the property, they are not even massive things. In our room there were scuff marks by the door and on the wall where other people staying at the hotel have obviously dragged their bag along the wall. Also the door between the bedroom and the living room did not work properly and some of the furniture is starting to have wear marks on the corners and little chips. You can over look these things which i did after the initial 20 mins in the room. If you go to any hotel which has been around since 2007 it also is going to have a few things wrong with it. All they need to do is get the sugar soap out and tweak a few things.

I would stay here again for sure and in fact i will be using the hotel again early next year as i think the size of the suites are amazing and the look and feel is exceptional. I am going to stay at the 4 seasons though for one night just to see what that is like as it is also reasonably priced. But as a conclusion stay at Fraser over Meriton or any other serviced apartments in sydney.

Room Tip: Ask for a high as possible floor !! If you do pay the 30 dollars, make sure you liase with reception...

Location is fantastic! Walk almost anywhere or the underground is a block away. Stayed for 4 days upon arrival from "the States" and stay was great. Has a washer/dryer in suite along with all the kitchen facilities of home. Large, comfortable suite at a good price. Only negative is $12.00 a day for internet access (which we decided to do without) and $ .95 per minute telephone charge (10 minute call to friends was my education). Coles and Woolworth's markets "around the corner" and lots of restaraunts/pubs nearby.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 30th floor and heard no street noise.
