The Lord Nelson brews its own beer - recommend the Quayle Ale and Pale Ale. Lovely old pub in The Rocks historic area of Sydney.

“If it's a seafaring atmosphere you want....”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

It's not for everyone. It is venerable (by Australian standards) but gets crowded, noisy, and, occasionally, out of hand, particularly on wqeekend nights with testosterone-charged youth. But it is in the heart of "The Rocks" - a great harbourside attraction - offers meals and is steps away from other attractions, including the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

“An Icon”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Start at lunchtime at The Fortune of War. Walk on to The Observer. Round the corner to The Mercantile (Guiness). Walk on to Hero of Waterloo. And finish at The LN for dinner - restaurant upstairs is very good. Sydney's great historic pub crawl.

“Pub with a Flair”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

We had a stop on our Rock tour on the Lord nelson Pub. Transformed in the mid 1900 we felt everything about this iconic Place is so geniune. Service was aceptable a bit rushed but all over what you expect.

“Boutique brewery with old Sydney atmosphere”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

One of the oldest operating pubs in Sydney has bags of atmosphere.
It is usually very busy on Friday afternoons and on weekends, but well worth it.
Several excellent in-house brewed beers.
The bar food is also great - try the plowman's lunch!
Highly recommended.
