“Author - Susan Duncan's paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2012

After reading Susan Duncan's books . Salvation Creek, The House and The Briny Cafe, I was keen to visit the places she mentions in her books including The Church Point Ferry cafe, Pittwater, Scotland island and Dorothea McKellar's house which Susan now lives in. The author Di Morrisey lived on Scotland. Island in her childhood. The 1920 brothel owner Tilly Devine had a holiday home of the island which she often shared with her daughters. Chips Rafferty, John Jarratt and Noni Hazelhurst once lived there as well. The ferry ride from the cafe around the island takes about one hour with many jetty stops for the convenience of the locals. There are approximately 600 residents. Access to and from is either by ferry or own craft. There are no shops, public toilets, and cafes on scotland island so be sure to take food and water if you want to visit the national park.

“Paradise close to Sydney”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2012

When at Scotland Island and surrounds you can't believe that you are only 40 minutes from a large city. The people are friendly and enjoy the close community atmosphere. The waters are crystal clear. There are also many artistic people in the area .

“Beautiful little island”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2011

Scotland Island is a beautiful little island on the northern fringe of Sydney where you feel like you are miles away from a major city. Take a trip up to Church Point by car. Have breakfast or lunch at the Waterfront Cafe at Church Point overlooking the water. Then take a ferry trip round the Pittwater or directly over to Scotland Island. There is not much to visit, it is more about soaking up the atmosphere. You can stay at the Scotland Island Lodge or at the nearby YHA at Towlers Bay.
