“Great Fun”
Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

Loved this place. Great atmosphere and really nice food. The entrees are large but the crab boil was the real standout.

They could work on the service aspect a little. One of the waitresses was obviously in a very bad mood...and it showed. The staff up front were really friendly when we showed up and that's where it stopped. A little bit of effort when customers are actually eating and on leaving the establishment makes a big difference. We felt a bit like we were just a number because of this and it disappointed us

Other than that we'll give it another crack with some friends and see how we go

“Very messy but very yummy!”
Reviewed February 10, 2014 via mobile

This is a new place, opened only 4 months ago. This is American Style restaurant, very casual. King crab legs in Mexican sauce were hot but good, very messy and a lot of work to the meet out :) but fun! They supply bibs and gloves :) if you want something different, this is the place to go! Make sure you order fish bowl!

“Its demolition derby of giant king crab legs and everyone is a winner.”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

Be prepared to leave poise at the door!!
There is nothing dainty about smashing a bag full of crabs. Here is how it works...500g lots of mussles, clams, prawns or crab are boiled up,placed in a plastic bag, doused in the sauce of your choosing, like mild Cajun, and delivered to your table. From here on,we cracked to our hearts content and may i add,our taste delight.
The nautical paraphernalia is laid on with a trowel . It looks like they trawled Ebay and bought everything that was under ten bucks.Classic rock in the background, but its the main show we had come for. the massive king crab legs provide the greatest yield and the best taste. Its demolition derby and everyone is a winner.

“Messy fun”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

Loved dinner here. The cocktails are just what you would expect: tropical, colorful and a little silly. The decor is lovely: hand painted signs reminiscent of New England or Louisiana seafood shacks. The food comes in shareable dishes and the boils come in plastic bags with a choice of sauces, like cajun, asian, or lemon pepper. The sides and bites are good as well but I say, if the place is called House of Crabs, stick to the crab. In fact, none of the sides (with the possible exception of the chevice-guacamole) was anything to rave about. The snow crab and blue swimmers were excellent, the clams were divine. Remember, all is served in plastic bags, you eat with your hands and do not have plates - if you don't want to get messy, do not eat here.
You will get sauce all over your arms, legs, etc. The bibs and gloves do not protect you! It's fun and good food, albeit with a price tag you would expect considering the excellent seafood offered here. You probably will end up spending 60-80 a person if you have cocktails, 50 with beers. The place is small so book ahead as they arrange the tables to suit the bookings for that night, so if any extra people come they may not fit (the tables are tiny, also considering they will be covered in crab shells, etc). All in all, I would definitely go back.
