Owner description: Located by the Royal Botanic Gardens, the bench known as Mrs. Macquarie's Chair was carved out of sandstone in the early 1800s for Govenor Lachlan Macquarie's wife, Elizabeth. It became her favorite spot to look upon the harbour and serves that same purpose today for visitors who take a moment to rest there.

“Fantastic views of sydney harbour, Opera House, and Bridge”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

It's the best spot for appreciating the harbour and how the city interfaces with it. So close to the city and yet a place of quiet contemplation

great views, calm environment, time to ponder Sydney and its histories. A lovely spot to take time out between visits to the Opera House, Botanic Gardens and the NSW Art Gallery.

“Amazing views”
Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

This is basically a bench cut out of the rock, facing the harbor. The views are amazing from there! A photographer's paradise! The walk over to it from the Opera House can take a while but is well worth the trip!

A good location to sit and watch the activity on Sydney Harbor. Take a picnic lunch. Sit on the grass and enjoy the scenery..
