Rather small when compared to some of the other parks located in the city, but still a nice place to stop and relax in the shade. The Park often hosts small art displays and there’s a Starbucks across the street. There are benches all along the paths, but also lots of space to just stretch out on the grass. This is a great stop to have a break between some of the other attractions that surround the Park (Sydney Tower, Australian Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Hyde Park Barracks, Botanic Gardens).

The Park is also the home of the Anzac War Memorial, which is located at the south end of the park near the Pool of Reflections. The detail of the exterior stone work is quite striking and the bronze statue inside is symbolic of both individual sacrifice and the memory of the fallen’s loved ones. The security personnel at the memorial were all former military and more than happy to answer all of my questions.

We spend Christmas every year in the Hyde Park Inn, a wonderful hotel opposite the park. Lots of interesting things occur in this part of town which is close to transport and a good place to be based for a few days

Very limited of things to see but a good place just to sit and unwind in the CBD. St James station is attached to the Park

On a great weather day why go to a restaurant when you can grab a sandwich and drink then head to Hyde Park to enjoy a lunch or even picnic. Numerous bench seats available or take a blanket and pick a spot on the grass. Surrounded by trees and the flowers, birds and the bees it's hard to imagine you are in the centre of the city. Plenty of space for the kids to run around too!
