Rather small when compared to some of the other parks located in the city, but still a nice place to stop and relax in the shade. The Park often hosts small art displays and there’s a Starbucks across the street. There are benches all along the paths, but also lots of space to just stretch out on the grass. This is a great stop to have a break between some of the other attractions that surround the Park (Sydney Tower, Australian Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Hyde Park Barracks, Botanic Gardens).
The Park is also the home of the Anzac War Memorial, which is located at the south end of the park near the Pool of Reflections. The detail of the exterior stone work is quite striking and the bronze statue inside is symbolic of both individual sacrifice and the memory of the fallen’s loved ones. The security personnel at the memorial were all former military and more than happy to answer all of my questions.
