Magnificent, everything you expect and more. A walk through the gardens, by the harbour side is truly stunning. We also went to an opera, La Traviata which was unforgettable.

“Couldn't be better!”

I don't know which is best: the excellent botanical gardens or the impressive opera house, but the walk in between those two will get a smile on your face!

“The best of Sydney Australia”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Arrived in Sydney a beautiful sunny day in November 2011 to board a RCCL ship for a cruise to celebrate my 60th birthday. After boarding, I had a whole afternoon ahead of me before the ship was to leave. So on the advice of my daughter the RCCL shore excursions mgr I decided to visit the Sydney Opera House. What a work of art. Every curve, every concept put into this magnificent building was awe inspiring. This is truly a jewel that can be enjoyed by all ages and that still has more possibilities to be realized before they are finished with the original dream started many years ago. At the doorsteps of this monumental building is the Sydney botanical gardens, where I sauntered for the next couple of hours on my way back to the ship. It is always so educational to explore different cultures and Australia has some trees and fauna not to be found elsewhere. After the cruise in the South Pacific islands before embarking on one of the coast of Australia I was lucky enough to spend another in Sydney this time exploring the city with a friend in a walking tour discovering it's history. What a memorable experience!!!

Beautifully kept gardens along the shore of Sydney Harbor. Take a walk from Circular Quay around to the Opera House, and then follow the path to the Royal Botanical gardens. Look up in the trees and you will see fruit bats, and maybe some cockatoos, and best of all its free.

“This peaceful walk can take you all the way to the Art Gallery”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Starting this walk at Circular Quay you can either walk around the Opera House or up the stairs and over the top of the construction site. Follow the signs to the Art Gallery and you will also come across the cafe, restaurant and Botanical Gardens gift shop; a good place to stop and enjoy the gardens. Continue on towards the Art Gallery and you will find an avenue of tulips in flower as well as other flowering plants and water fountains. As you leave the Botanic Gardens you will see the Art Gallery just across the road to the right. The Botanic Gardens Herbarium is to the left as you leave the Gardens. Unfortunately visiting the Herbarium is by appointment and guided tour only. The Art Gallery however is free and absolutely amazing.
