In this war memorial you will find many information and objects dating back from the time that soldiers from Australia and NZ landed on Gallipoli to present. As a Turkish person it gave me more insight about how Turkish soldiers were determined to defend their homeland, and how much the Anzac were loyal to the British Empire to fight overseas in foreign lands. Even though the Anzac assault on Gallipoli failed the fallen foreign soldiers were buried in safe grounds. You can watch a short video about the history of the buidling and Anzac.

We have always made a point of visiting WW II and Resistance museums while traveling in Europe. Coincidentally, we were in Australia on ANZAC Day, April 25. The Australians' reverence for those who fought in various wars, as exemplified by their ANZAC Day ceremonies and this memorial, reminded us that when there is a war, it reaches all corners of the globe and touches the lives of many. Be sure to watch the short film.

It seems a little odd describing this poignant war memorial and museum as an attraction, but it should be on everyone's itinerary to go, to learn and be humbled. You don't need fancy interactive displays just look see and contemplate.

Like all of these types of places there is so much history and symbolism built in to them. If you are lucky enough to talk to one of the voluntees in attendance they will explain the meaning of the stars on the roof, what the pool of reflections symbolises, the significance of the warrior on the pedistal drapped over his sword and shield. If you have the time take a look.
