If you are coming to Sydney get to Watson's Bay any way you can by bus, ferry, seaplane or car. This is just the best part of Sydney Watson's Bay Hotel for accommodation and great fish and chips for lunch, a huge Robertson Park with play area and of course great ocean swimming pool.
We regularly visit Watson's Bay you can take a picnic or plenty of places to grab something to eat. Ferries come in regularly so there are surges at food outlets, so timing is everything. Car parking is limited and fills early in the day in Summer.
Short walk up to the Gap with great views of the Ocean and back over toward Sydney Harbour Bridge. Don't forget to duck into Watson's Bay Anglican Church for the lovely stained glass windows.
Just the best place sit relax and enjoy the best of Sydney.

Wanted a few hours out of Sydney one Sunday so hopped on the ferry and had traditional fish and chips at Doyles. Very pleasant. Walked to the Gap and then back to the ferry.

I popped over to Watson's Bay for breakfast before departing Sydney. Getting there is an easy c.15 minute ferry ride from Circular Quay (ferry route 7) and one can use a pre-pay Opal card (just don't forget to tap out....I learned this the hard way!)

Once in Watson's Bay, you'd find a small, quaint neighbourhood with a beach and a few restaurants. There appear to be a couple of options to eat ranging from nicer (Doyles) to the Beach Club.

Overall, if you have a couple hours to kill and you want to "get out" of Sydney, it's worth a look.

A lovely place with a nice beach and a 10 minute walk takes you to Camp Cove which is great for swimming. Really nice houses in this area.
