We walkes to the point and to the army base and then to the beach because the weather was nice. By ferry it is a nice trip which you will enjoy. When you walk from the crowd it will be pleasant.

The ferry from Circular Quay to Watson Bay is a fast ride and provides a really good view of Sydney Bridge, The Opera House and many bays; take a camera. There is a pleasant short walk along the Heritage Trail (be aware there is a nudist beach) and many restaurants to dine in or out (busy at week-ends). We had excellent take-away fish and chips from Doyles on the Wharf and ate them in the park overlooking the bay. Watch out for the over-friendly seagulls though.

Take the ferry to Watson Bay, enjoy fish and chips, walk to South Head and then the Gap. Alternatively walk down to Bondi and take bus/train home.

Ferries only travel to and from Watson's Bay during the middle of the day and not first thing in the morning or after about 3:30pm. Catching a bus or a taxi is required outside of these hours. (Nov 2012, the cost of a bus fare one way is $4.50)

The ferry trip from the city to Watson's Bay is fantastic. Goes past the magnificent mansions in the eastern suburbs. Once at Watson's Bay there are great spots to eat or picnic. It's a short walk across to the Gap overlooking the ocean, or a longer walk around to South Head is good.
