Petite area. Liked the walks around this beach very much. You can get north or south from here, and its not too far to go. There is also a great pub close by.

Visit here for a safe day at the "beach". Well there is a beach but this swimming area is more like a pool open to the ocean. It was built during WWII to keep local works in employment. They were totally inexperienced but they did a fantastic job.
Bring a picnic lunch, set-up on the Northern promenade. No sand to get into the sandwiches as the promenade is concrete and just a simple walk down the stairs into the water.
Bring your snorkeling gear for a wonderful day

Brilliant and bring your goggles to see all the fish and blue groopers. The showers are always warm as the pipes run under the concrete boardwalk. fantastic atmosphere and a great place to meet the locals.

There are so many places to visit when you are in Sydney and whilst many are beautiful on the surface, it is what is beneath the surface that makes Clovelly really interesting.

You don't need any fancy snorkelling gear - just a spirit of adventure and a pair of goggles should be sufficient to take you into the undersea work that Clovelly has to offer. Star fish, blue gropers, small shimmery silvery fish that form clusters by the rocks.... It is bliss.

There is also a pool which runs alongside the harbour, a great cafe, free parking, heaps of bakeries in nearby Clovelly town and an abundance of space...

With Bondi not too far away, and Coogee just around the corner, Clovelly is really worth a visit if you are in the area and fancy dipping your toes into a world of undersea whimsy!

What can I say, I'm a little biased as I live here.
Wonderful beach, water secluded from the ocean (its slightly walled off so can protect the bay) and so so clean.
Great for snorkelling (you might see Blue grouper, Brim but be careful of the sea urchins getting in, thy can hide in the rocks if you don't come in from the sand)
I love taking a jog down from home through Coogee, around Gordon's Bay then take a cooling dip in the sea before heading back home. A little slice of paradise.
Very family safe and friendly beach.
