We stayed at the Meriton for 5 nights in November and loved it. We found the hotel to be in a great location and loved the quick walks to the Circular Quay, Darling Harbor and to the Town Hall area which was great for the train and the Woolworths. We were able to walk everywhere and only took the train one night as it was raining. The people at the desk were very friendly and we felt quite safe here. We only booked a one bedroom apartment but they gave us an upgrade to a two bedroom (although the second one was locked) which meant we had a huge living room, a nice kitchen with an outdoor balcony and a large bedroom and bathroom. There were windows all around and it was fabulous to wake up in the morning to so much light. The washer and dryer worked perfectly and they supplied detergent. I didn't expect the room to be serviced everyday but it was and always looked great when we came home in the evening. The elevator was not lightning fast but the wait was never more than 2-3 minutes. The wifi was decent in the lobby but we were only allowed limited free access. There is a McDonalds with free wifi just down the street plus an Apple store on the way to either Darling Harbor or Circular Quay that had a great connection so that's where we often stopped to connect. There is fabulous Thai food if you head right once you leave the hotel and walk down just a couple of blocks. I would stay here again in a minute. We took a few tours and told everyone we met about how great our room was and how incredibly well priced it was and people were amazed and a little jealous. Don't hesitate to book here. It's great!!

Excellent location half way up Pitt Street (329 Pitt Street). Although Pitt Street does seem to go on forever. I was travelling alone and I felt very safe staying here. The security is excellent. The staff are extremely helpful & friendly. The apt was fabulous, extremely spacious, well equipped, clean & serviced daily. The bed was so big & comfy. Fresh towels and toiletries replaced every day. There is also a washer & drier provided for laundry. I don’t think I could fault the apt one bit. Maybe it was expensive but I feel it was totally worth it. They offer 2 free 30mins wifi sessions to be used it the reception area. Other than that you can get wifi in your room but it is costly. About $20 for 24 hrs. There is also a Gym and swimming pool but I never got the chance to use it. There is a metro stop next door but I never used it. I walked everywhere. It is so accessible. When you come out of the hotel you turn left and follow the street and it brings you directly to Circular Quay, turn right and this will lead you to Darling Harbour. The city is so easy to get around. Circular Quay is a buzz of restaurants and bars and comes alive as the sun sets. It was an amazing feeling to be there and just soak up the atmosphere. Just to sit back have a drink and people watch. I did the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb. It was amazing, it is expensive but totally worth it. I had booked it in advance but you can just turn up on the day and book it. I took the ferry to Manly cost about $15 return, there is free wifi available onboard. Another great day out. I went surfing with Manly Surf School. I booked a lesson as I wanted to be within a group. It was $60 and good value. I learnt so much and the instructor was excellent. I took the bus to Bondi. Another great experience. You have to get Fish & a chip in Bondi Surf Seafood’s, voted the best in Sydney. They also do deep fried Mars Bars although I didn’t get to try one. Due to the weather the beach was fairly quiet and empty but it was still worth visiting. If you are a fan of Bondi Rescue you may catch a glimpse of one of the lifeguards!! Sydney Aquarium is also worth a visit. Admission is $35. You can get some concessions and also there are group tickets you can get for various attractions which will save a few dollars. Paddy’s Market is great as well for a few knick knacks and stuff and the prices are slightly cheaper than some of the souvenir shops outside. Three Wise Monkeys is a nice pub for food and drink, it is quite reasonable too. It is situated at 555 Georges Street. I found Sydney to be cheaper than Melbourne for food & drink.  The only bad thing I have to say about my trip to Sydney was the weather. It rained the whole time I was there but sure there is nothing you can do about. Also it didn’t stop me from getting out & doing stuff! Wonderful City, I will be back!! Enjoy.

We booked a 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sky view apartment for our party of 4, and could not have chosen better. Clean, spacious, functional, nice beds and beautiful bathrooms. Much better than booking 2 hotel rooms and much cheaper. Woolworth supermarket next door and bottle shop around the corner. A bit of a walk to Wynyard and the proximity to George Street (a bit rough on a saturday night) the only negatives.Would stay there again any time.

Room Tip: Book a sky view apartment. It is worth it.

Wonderfully appointed serviced apartment in the centre of Sydney's CBD - only 2km from Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the many attractions which make Sydney a glorious city to visit. The monorail goes past the door, the buses, trains, hop on hop off tourist coaches are all within walking distance. Extensive facilities in the way of shopping, restaurants, tourist attractions and parks are all very close by. The service at the Meriton was superb. The rooms were wonderful, with lounge, dining, kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and bedrooms all tastefully decorated and well equipped.

Room Tip: we chose the 2 bedroom apartment, because we were 3 adults travelling together. We had plenty of ro...

If you are looking to stay somewhere central in downtown Sydney and have kids in tow, there is no better place than Meriton, Pitt Street. Centrally located at the junction of Pitt Street and Bathurst Street, it's 15 minutes on foot to all-time kids' favourites like Sydney Aquarium and Wild Life Sydney at Darling Harbour. To buy groceries, a major Woolworths outlet at George Street is just 5 minutes walk away. Transportation wise, Town Hall train station is less than 3 minutes walk away, which gets you to major attractions like the Rocks, Harbour Bridge and Opera House in just 2 train stops (alight at Circular Quay). Empty taxis whizz pass Meriton every few seconds (maybe that's because taxi is an expensive mode of transportation). For shopping, getting to the factory outlets at Birkenhead Point is a breeze - you can buy a Prepay ticket at the 7-Eleven located just outside Meriton and take Metrobus M50 from Park Street (near the junction with Castlereagh Street). M50 takes you to Bondi Beach as well if you travel in the opposite direction. If you wish to get to the airport, you can pre-book an airport shuttle bus from the reception before your departure date for just AUD$14 per adult. And yes, I forgot to add, the receptionists I encountered were also friendly and most helpful.

In terms of accommodation, we took a one-bedroom apartment at Level 18 (note: the ground floor lobby is Level 11). The apartment is well-kept and well-equipped. The kitchenette has all the amenities that allows you to do basic cooking - a stove, sink, oven, microwave, dish washer and all the utensils. Dishwashing liquid is also provided. For laundry, both a spin dryer and washing machine is provided within a small ensuite laundry room (to keep out the noise). Again, laundry detergent is provided. Other than the occassional sirens from the streets we hear at night, the bedroom is quiet and comfortable. This is testified by my one-year old baby who slept through the night, every night, without stirring, for 4 consecutive nights. Attached to the bedroom is a balcony which we did not make use of. Internet service (wired and wireless) is also available within the room at a rate of AUD$18 for 24 hours.

The only downside is probably the absence of any view out to the city (despite a large balcony at the bedroom) since we were staying at a low floor and surrounding us were all buildings. But that has an advantage too as it blocks off most of the noise from the busy streets below us.

What more can I say, Meriton @ Pitt Street is definitely highly recommended and a convenient accommodation, especially suited for families!

Bang for your buck in the heart of Sydney. Pay the same price - if not less - as you would for a hotel room, and get the perks of having your own 1 bedroom apartment. Close to everything: trains, trams, monorail, buses, ferries, restaurants, supermarkets, 7eleven, cafes, shopping, malls, chinatown, movies, skytower, parks.

Room has washer/dryer, dishwasher, 2x tvs, our room had bath + separate shower, king bed (2 king singles together), dining table, desk, couch. Rooms are serviced daily. Lifts werent a problem for us whatsoever.

Note street noise is the norm for Sydney accomodation - the place is buzzing 24/7 so street noise cant be avoided.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a view - but you pay more for this. Transport - airport shuttle can be booked at...

Fabulous location, 2 mins to monorail station, 2 mins to supermarket, 3-4 mins to David Jones/Myer/Pitt St Mall.
Arrived an hour early and helpful check in staff assisted us in storing our baggage. I had requested a high level room with sky views, the room allocated to us "became unserviceable" just as we were about to check in. When we made our way to our 2 bed 2 bath apartment, the 2nd bedroom and bathroom were locked. A quick phone call sorted this out, but the second bathroom was small and and had tiny bits of what my flatmates and I used to call "the dreaded pink mould" around the edges of the shower and floor grouting. My 5 year old daughter just ended up using the spacious and clean ensuite off our bedroom instead. The carpet was a bit worn in traffic areas, but the kitchen was well appointed and spacious, and the view was fabulous. The daily servicing was extremely brief, pretty much clean towels and that was it, but unsolicited, a cleaning manager knocked on our door and asked what we thought of the servicing, and it improved after that.

The pool was a hit with the 5 year old and we used it daily, it was lovely with a lap pool and a large spa pool. We had it to ourselves most afternoons.

Overall very adequate facilites, fabulous location, some signs of wear and tear. We had no problems with noise/parties/balconies being locked on the weekends as I have read in prior reviews.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor, you will get a better view
