I had recommended Alpha to my team for our EOFY team lunch and everyone loved it. The decor was airy and spacious. We opted for the Yia Yia's menu ($55 per head) as we had a big group and the menu offers a bit of everything. Their taramosalata (white cod's roe dip) is the best that I have ever tasted and I've tasted a lot from different Greek restaurants. Service was attentive and water glasses topped up without even asking. Overall atmosphere was fantastic and with great energy. And yes I would come back here again.

Previously dined in the private room which was amazing. Popped in today for a light lunch and it was perfect! Octopus was tasty and tender and the prawns were perfect. The decor is really beautiful too. Our waitress was attentive but not overwhelming. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant with good décor and vibe. Spanakopita could be improved but the lamb was cooked to perfection. I will return in the near future. Thanks again

Our friends and we were getting together for dinner and booked the early sitting at Alpha. There were many friends who recommended various dishes and I was looking forward to the meal. We arrived 30 minutes early to enjoy a pre-service drink with our daughter who worked nearby. It took 20 minutes and a lot of looks indicating that our request for a pre-dinner drink at the bar was more than an inconvenience for the restaurant. The maître d' was actually quite petulant. I thought it must have just been a bad day for him. But the barman was also quite aloof and disinterested in serving us a drink - I thought he must have been the owner for the first 10 minutes or so because he was just ignoring us. Finally when our friends arrived we had only just started our drink but we rushed them through because of the all too often reminder that we have to be out before the second sitting commences.

Our seat was between the entrance and the terrace door and all night a blast of cold air shot through as people arrived and left or when service was brought to their tables. Also I found it quite insensitive that even when the restaurant was quite full, a background music track was easily overheard over the significant room noise. It just meant that you had to lean in closer and talk a little louder for any conversation to occur.

The food and wines were very nice. The food itself outstanding. The matched wines were adequate. But here is the problem. We ordered the share menu but the size of our table was woefully inadequate to handle four people with drinks having any room for a shared plate.

It seems to me that all the thought has gone into the food and well done, they have achieved a wonderful result. However the programming of the welcome, pace of service, layout, ambiance and ability to meet and share an evening out has been rushed and poorly planned.

Our welcome was cold and distant and took a long time to improve, but our Argentinian waitress tried to repair the damage. But a series of discourteous efforts really spoiled an otherwise enjoyable evening. Contrast this with the warm and easy welcoming at Chiswick or Aria, the efficiency of Cafe Sydney or China Doll, the ease of the service at Nomad. When its done well you remember the food and the transition from arrival to table is part of the journey. When its done poorly, you just remember that you are just revenue.

The food was really good. We had a set menu with bread olives and dips, spinach and ricotta pie and lamb and greek salad. All of it was great. The staff were really accommodating. We had a double birthday and bought our own cakes and they just took care of it. Decent experience for a reasonable price given it's location.
