I had dinner here - it is a great bar with a reasonable restaurant. It's big though - and it looks like it's more aigned with being a bar than a restaurant. I was here early evening, so it was still being a restaurant, rather than a pub. The atmosphere at that time is very conducive for chatting and my companion and I sat in the outdoor area - very pleasant. The cocktails are good (around $15) but the menu is not extensive. I ate their "famous" Grilled Tasmanian salmon with cucumber chilli, mint salad ($19) - it was lovely, very reasonably priced, with some Bruschetta ($10) to start - again, tasty and a good sized serving, but it's bread, not toast. My companion had Salt and Pepper Squid - a bowl of crumbed, deep fried, calamari rings ... just pub food really.

This is a very popular historic bar in Sydney. It is only a few steps away from Circular Quay. There is a large outdoor area with seats and tables. There is a good selection of beer and a full bar. I ordered a pint and sat outside. Life is good. I decided to order another pint and dinner. What a mistake. The calamari appetizer was good. The rest of my dinner wasn't. Please note that while there are many tables, there is no table service. Any time you order anything at all, you have to go stand at the bar. I even had to retrieve my own silverware and napkin. The final disappointment was that everyone around me seemed to be smoking. I mean everyone. The cigarette smoke ruined the already bad dinner for me.

I recommend that you visit the Customs House Bar. But go there just for drinks. Go somewhere else for dinner unless all you want is the calamari appetizer. This is a great place for drinks with friends or colleagues.

We had a delicious lunch sitting outside in a very spacious outdoor area of the Bar. The food and drink prices were very reasonable for CBD Sydney and it was very pleasant siting in the sunshine.
You order at the bar and the food is delivered to your table quite promptly.

Lunch in town does not have to be outrageously expensive. My husband had swordfish with Asian vegetables and I had the sirloin steak with salad and chips. Both were nice and hot, the fish was delicious and the steak was tender and beautifully cooked, the chips were hot and crunchy and a nice mix of fresh salad. Outdoor seating near a pleasant park made for a lovely lunch @ $18 & $19 a meal and a half pint beer for $6. Bargain! Quick pleasant service and smart restrooms made our day.

This place is really a hidden gem when staying at the Marriott – the food and drink are by far cheaper here plus the atmosphere is great too.

The staff are very friendly and although not an extensive menu, the food is great.
