Uncle Ming's is a funky Chinese speakeasy hidden underground along one of Sydney's main streets. It's a bit tricky to locate, but once find it, you are rewarded with a funky Chinese speakeasy. The atmosphere is spot on - Chinese incense, 50s Chinese pop music and traditional Chinese decor with a nice twist on it.
The range of alcohol (microbrews from Asia, Japanese whisky, sake, soju, etc) was impressive and the dumplings matched the drinks well. We weren't really certain what to order, so we asked the staff for some help describing the menu items. They suggested a Bruce Lee cocktail which was superb... and they were are served in Chinese porcelain teapots and tea cups! We tried their pork and chive dumplings - very tasty!
I asked the staff where they get the dumplings and they are handmade by some old Chinese lady - very authentic. If you want a unique small bar experience in Sydney, then this place is for you.
