I enjoyed our dinner at Gowings - the location is excellent and close to just about everything (opposite the QVB building). Reservations were prompt and flexible when we needed to push our arrival time back - even following up to check we were on our way (it was a Saturday night). The layout is similar to Rockpool Bar & Grill but felt more modern (rather than art deco) and reminded me of a New York restaurant. When walking in, the room had a great vibe and plenty of atmosphere but also a bit loud (with bar patrons upstairs overlooking the restaurant). The noise towards the end of the night was a bit of a nuisance, particularly if you wanted to have a decent conversation. The wait staff were excellent, knowledgable (particularly on wines and pairing with meal choices) without being too intrusive. Menu is broad and covers a good range of options (I enjoyed plenty of seafood & my husband had duck). Again, a good wine list.
Probably not quite on par with an Aria, Rockpool, Quay - but offered a trendy and flexible menu in an ultra cool environment.
