“Chinese food with decent ingredients!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

I visited Mr Wong twice in three days while staying in Sydney. Great buzz, awesome service. Food was a little variable - was blown away by the char sui toothfish and eggplant with fish flavor sauce on first visit. Second time around the food was nice, but I want more than nice for the prices I paid!

Dim sum platter was delicious - but also the most expensive dumplings I've had, by a long way!

“Loud, full-on and really enjoyable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

We had a family dinner to celebrate our daughter's 15th birthday and the loud, fast moving ambience suited the occasion. We really enjoyed the crispy skin while chicken as well as the dim sum platter. This was my third visit to Mr Wong and I have enjoyed each dinner immensely. It's definitely not a place for a quite, romantic evening but great for a group outing.

“Food and service better elsewhere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Had a reservation and were seated on time. Restaurant is inside old warehouse that only serves to magnify the loud patrons so familiar in most Chinese restaurants. Our group of 6 were seated on lowest level close to wait station. Service was slow and unimpressive. The flying projectiles (rolls) that came out of the service area and landed on our table were disconcerting. Food portions were small. Food quality was average.
Next time in Sydney I will look for a more "Mom & Pop" place rather than going to a trendy one that seems not to live up to its reputation on all occasions.

“Uninvited Guest at Mr. Wong”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

I was also present at the lunch which is referred to in the previous review. I agree with the reviewer's comments about the wait staff's response which gave the impression that the cockroach ran across our table because we were sitting near the window. I would also like to add that all the food on the table was removed and not replaced and some of the food was hardly touched. In addition, there was no offer to replace the food although there was an offer of some wine.

“Uninvited guest at Mr. Wong's”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

Unfortunately an otherwise good luncheon experience at Mr. Wong's was spoiled by an unwanted guest: a cockroach ON MY PLATE! This occurred towards the end of our meal. I could not help but feel that the wait staff were not as perturbed about our uninvited guest as I would have thought. As a consequence, although the food, the service and the experience was enjoyable, I cannot recommend the establishment. It is one thing seeing a cockroach on the floor, it is quite another having one present itself to share your meal!
